$20 - $23 per hour (based on experience and qualifications) About Us Pearl's Childcare Learning Center and Pearl's Too are high-quality childcare facilities in Charles County committed to nurturing the growth and development of young children. We proudly hold a Maryland EXCELS quality rating and participate in the MSDE PreK Expansion Grant program. We are seeking a passionate and qualified Lead Preschool Teacher to join our team and create a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. Position Overview The Lead Preschool Teacher will be responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising daily classroom activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. This role requires strong classroom management, effective communication with families, and compliance with Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Office of Child Care (OCC) regulations. Key Responsibilities Classroom Leadership & Curriculum Plan and implement daily lesson plans aligned with MSDE Early Learning Standards and center curriculum. Create engaging, developmentally appropriate activities that foster exploration, discovery, and school readiness. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of children with varying abilities and learning styles. Maintain a safe, organized, and nurturing classroom environment. Child Development & Care Provide attentive, responsive care to infants and toddlers, including feeding, diapering, toileting, and naptime routines. Monitor developmental milestones and document progress through observations, portfolios, and assessments. Support children in developing independence, social skills, and emotional regulation. Ensure a clean, safe, and stimulating environment that encourages growth and development. Compliance & Safety Ensure all classroom practices meet OCC regulations and health/safety guidelines. Maintain accurate daily records (attendance, incident reports, diaper/toileting logs, lesson plans). Adhere to center policies, emergency procedures, and licensing requirements. Conduct classroom safety checks and ensure materials are age-appropriate. Family Engagement Build positive relationships with families through daily communication, conferences, and parent engagement activities. Share developmental updates, progress reports, and classroom highlights with families. Collaborate with parents to support each child's learning and well-being. Team Collaboration & Professional Growth Supervise and mentor assistant teachers, ensuring smooth classroom operations. Collaborate with colleagues to plan and execute center-wide events and activities. Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and required trainings. Support the center's mission of maintaining Maryland EXCELS quality standards and accreditation. Qualifications Must be
MSDE OCC
Preschool Qualified . At least 1-2 years of classroom teaching experience with preschoolers. Knowledge of MSDE Early Learning Standards and developmentally appropriate practices. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and actively engage with children in play and learning activities. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
