Aug 31, 2026 Job Description Suttons Bay Elementary is hiring a full-time, school-year Kindergarten Interventionist and a 1:1 Classroom Aide in our Great Start to Readiness (GSRP) program. These positions are vital to helping us provide a safe, inclusive, and joyful learning environment for all students. We are looking for positive, student-centered problem solvers who are passionate about helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. We have openings for the following roles: Position 1: Kindergarten Classroom Interventionist
Setting:
Kindergarten Classroom
Role Overview:
Provide academic and behavioral support to students in the Kindergarten classroom. Work closely with lead teachers to implement instructional activities, provide individual or small-group support to at-risk students, and build relationships with students across grade levels. Position 2: Pre-K GSRP 1:1 Student Aide
Setting:
Great Start to Readiness Program (GSRP) Classroom, Monday through Thursday only
Role Overview:
We are seeking a caring and dependable person to serve as a 1:1 student aide in our state-funded GSRP classroom for 4-year-olds. This person will work one-on-one with a 4-year-old GSRP student, helping the student with daily routines and activities. The ideal candidate is warm, patient, and enthusiastic about working with young children. Experience in early childhood education is a plus, but we are happy to train the right person.
Unique Requirements:
To be eligible to work in a licensed preschool and GSRP setting in Michigan, candidates must meet Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) requirements. One of the following qualifications is required at hire or must be obtained shortly after hire: A valid Child Development Associate (CDA) credential with a preschool emphasis; or An associate degree or higher in early childhood education or child development; or Willingness to complete necessary training or coursework to meet licensing requirements (support available) Candidates must also meet all LARA health and safety requirements, including: TB test clearance CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Background check and fingerprint clearance through the Michigan Child Care Background Check system (CCBC) Experience with preschool-aged children and a strong understanding of early childhood development are highly preferred.
Primary Responsibilities of Both Positions:
Support the classroom teacher in implementing daily instruction Assist students with both academic and non-academic needs Provide supervision during specials, recess, lunch, and transitions Communicate regularly with teachers and support staff to ensure student needs are met Participate in school meetings and trainings as needed Maintain compliance with all district, state, and federal guidelines Qualifications for
Both Positions:
High school diploma or GED required Must pass a background check Demonstrated ability to build strong, caring relationships with students A belief that all students can grow and achieve Creativity, resilience, and a willingness to learn new strategies Ability to prioritize student needs and overcome barriers to learning Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and seek support when needed
