Job Description

Charger Kids Club and Little Chargers Childcare Program is seeking a qualified Childcare worker. The program provides appropriate academic, social, and recreational opportunities designed to meet the assessed needs of all students. The Childcare worker is responsible for supervising children enrolled in the program and providing direction to youth staff. This position supports the implementation of daily program curriculum and activities, ensuring a safe, structured, and inclusive environment for all participants. Responsibilities include fostering a welcoming atmosphere for youth and maintaining a safe setting that promotes positive behavior and engagement. The Childcare worker will also work directly with students with special needs, supporting a range of learning, behavioral, and developmental needs in accordance with program expectations. Duties Actively engaging with children during all program hours. Demonstrating an understanding, patient, warm, and receptive attitude toward all children. Using appropriate child guidance techniques when interacting with children. Encouraging conversation and problem-solving among children by using effective communication, reinforcement, redirection, and role modeling. Leading group activities as directed by lead or coordinator. Setting up and putting away games, equipment, and supplies Providing input for program planning and activities. Implementing policies and procedures. Maintaining records as directed by lead or coordinator including attendance, behavior, and accidents reports. Assisting with child nutrition procedures. Keeping program and storage areas orderly. Greeting parents and children during check-in and pick-up times. Explaining program guidelines and expectations to children. Communicating positive feedback to parents on a regular basis. Attending regularly scheduled staff meetings. Attending the required number of total annual hours in in-service training. Observing confidentiality. Maintaining professional boundaries at all times. Performing other duties of a similar nature or level. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public Skilled in word processing and the use of standard business word processing software and applications used in preparing, formatting correspondence, and generating business-standardized documents Skilled in assigning work Oral and written communication skills Knowledge of practices, techniques, and fundamentals of preschool and school-age care programming and services. Fundamentals of supervision and supervisory techniques. Operating a computer and using applicable software applications. Developing student social skills. Modeling appropriate behaviors. Maintaining confidentiality. Collecting and organizing data and information. Qualifications CPR/First Aid certification is preferred, but not needed to gain entry into the classification High school diploma or equivalent and at least six months of experience working with children. College coursework in education, recreation, or a related field preferred; or An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Light work, exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Hours:
20-25 hours per week. Hours may vary due to staff-to-student ratios and program needs. Programs are open from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm. Dassel-Cokato Schools does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age or disability in employment or the provision of services.
