Own Your Own Family Child Care Business Family childcare is usually done in the provider's home. We have an opportunity for you to become a Special Family Childcare Provider in a fully equipped space outside your home. You will need to purchase very little to start your business. Minnesota Special Family Childcare Provider (Licensed Outside the Provider's Home) MN Statute 9502 A Minnesota Special Family Child Care Provider delivers safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate care for children in a licensed setting outside the provider's home while maintaining compliance with Minnesota family childcare licensing requirements, health and safety standards, supervision rules, recordkeeping obligations, and any applicable local zoning, building, and fire code requirements for the program site. Position Summary The provider plans and supervises daily activities that support children's health, safety, learning, and social-emotional development in a licensed nonresidential or special family childcare setting. This role includes building positive relationships with families, maintaining a clean and organized care environment, following Minnesota family childcare licensing standards, coordinating required policies and documentation, and ensuring the location remains suitable for licensed childcare operations. Key Responsibilities

• Provide attentive supervision and responsive care for children in accordance with Minnesota family childcare requirements and the terms of the program's special family childcare license.
• Plan and lead age-appropriate activities that support child development, learning, behavior guidance, and school readiness in a mixed-age setting.
• Maintain a safe, healthy, and organized program environment, including sanitation, safe sleep practices when applicable, emergency preparedness, and active supervision of indoor and outdoor areas.
• Ensure the childcare location remains compliant with applicable zoning, building, occupancy, and fire safety requirements for licensed childcare operations outside the provider's home.
• Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks and accommodate allergies, dietary needs, and medication procedures as authorized.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding daily routines, child progress, incidents, concerns, and program expectations.
• Maintain required records, attendance, emergency contacts, immunization information, incident reports, emergency plans, and written program policies.
• Complete required training, background study clearance, pediatric CPR/First Aid, and any ongoing professional development required by Minnesota licensing authorities.
• Work cooperatively with licensors, assistants, substitutes, employers or sponsoring organizations when applicable, and other caregivers to maintain compliance and high-quality care.

Qualifications Upon Opening of Business Met Minnesota family childcare licensing requirements for a special family childcare program Obtained successful background study clearance Hold current pediatric CPR and First Aid certification Completed required pre-service and ongoing training in child development, active supervision, health and safety, emergency preparedness, and other topics required under Minnesota family childcare rules and statutes. Additional Qualifications Knowledge of child development, positive behavior guidance, family engagement, and operational practices for licensed childcare in a setting outside the provider's home. Ability to follow program policies and maintain compliance with licensing, recordkeeping, health, safety, and site-related requirements. Strong communication, organization, decision-making, confidentiality, and emergency response skills. Working Conditions This position is based in a licensed childcare setting outside the provider's home, often in a dwelling or other approved location permitted for special family childcare operations. The role requires the ability to lift children and equipment, move throughout indoor and outdoor play spaces, respond quickly to emergencies, maintain site safety, and manage multiple tasks while ensuring children remain safe and engaged. The setting has passed licensing requirements in the past. All the equipment for your childcare is provided free of charge. You will own your own business, but not the space or equipment that is provided. You will pay rent for the space to the church. We will provide many resources (including some financial assistance) for a candidate to obtain their license and provide whatever assistance we can for you to have a successful business.
