Job Summary At The Midwest Playhouse, our Lead Infant & Toddler Teacher plays a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where our youngest learners can grow, explore, and feel deeply loved. This position is responsible for leading the classroom, implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum, maintaining licensing standards, and guiding assistant teachers while building strong, trusting relationships with families. Responsibilities Classroom Leadership & Care Lead a classroom of infants and/or toddlers with a focus on safety, nurturing care, and active supervision Maintain proper ratios and ensure all children's needs are met throughout the day Create a calm, loving environment that supports emotional security and development Curriculum & Engagement Plan and implement weekly lesson plans aligned with our curriculum and faith-based values Incorporate sensory play, art, music, and movement appropriate for ages 0-2 Integrate Bible-based lessons, songs, and simple teachings into daily activities Encourage developmental milestones including language, motor skills, and social-emotional growth Daily Documentation & Communication Maintain accurate daily logs (feeding, diapering, naps, etc.) Upload high-quality photos and updates through our parent communication app Communicate professionally and warmly with families regarding their child's day and development Health, Safety & Compliance Follow all state licensing regulations and center policies Ensure cleanliness and organization of the classroom at all times Follow safe sleep practices and diapering procedures Monitor children for signs of illness and follow proper reporting procedures Team Leadership Guide and support assistant teachers and float staff Model positive behavior, strong engagement, and professionalism Assist with training and maintaining classroom expectations Qualifications Previous experience working with infants and/or toddlers (required) Lead teacher qualifications per state licensing (or willingness to obtain) Strong understanding of child development (0-2 years) CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain) Ability to lift, bend, and actively engage throughout the day Passion for early childhood education and a love for working with young children What We're Looking For Warm, nurturing, and patient personality Strong leadership and communication skills High energy and engagement with children Organized and dependable Passion for creating meaningful learning experiences A team player who aligns with our values and culture Why Join The Midwest Playhouse?
