Infant/Toddler TeacherPosition Summary The Infant/Toddler Teacher provides safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate care for infants and toddlers. This position is responsible for supporting each child's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development while maintaining a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, patient, attentive, and experienced in childcare settings such as daycare centers, preschools, early childhood programs, or before- and after-school programs. General Duties and Responsibilities Provide attentive, responsive care to infants and toddlers throughout the day. Maintain active supervision and ensure children are safe at all times. Plan and lead age-appropriate activities that encourage language, movement, creativity, sensory exploration, and social-emotional development. Follow individual schedules for feeding, diapering, toileting, rest, and play. Prepare bottles, meals, and snacks according to program procedures and each child's needs. Change diapers and assist with toilet learning while following proper hygiene and sanitation procedures. Comfort children and respond appropriately to their physical and emotional needs. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom. Clean and sanitize toys, equipment, feeding areas, diapering stations, and other classroom surfaces. Observe children and document their daily activities, behavior, development, meals, diaper changes, and rest periods. Communicate professionally with parents and guardians about children's routines, progress, and concerns. Work cooperatively with other teachers, administrators, and support staff. Follow all center policies, emergency procedures, licensing requirements, and applicable health and safety regulations. Maintain the confidentiality of children, families, and staff. Report accidents, injuries, suspected abuse or neglect, and safety concerns according to required procedures. Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional-development activities. Perform other childcare and classroom duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Must be registered with the Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) and able to meet applicable screening requirements. Must have completed fingerprinting within the last five years or be willing to complete updated fingerprinting before employment if required. Must have prior childcare experience in a daycare, preschool, early childhood center, before- or after-school program, nursery, or similar setting. Must demonstrate knowledge of appropriate infant and toddler care, supervision, and safety practices. Must be able to communicate effectively with children, families, coworkers, and supervisors. Must be dependable, punctual, patient, professional, and able to work as part of a team. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions. Must meet all applicable state licensing and employer requirements. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Coursework, certification, or degree in early childhood education, child development, or a related field. Experience caring for children from birth through age three. Current pediatric CPR and first-aid certification. Training in safe sleep, recognizing and reporting child abuse and neglect, medication administration, or other required childcare topics. Experience creating and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry children and childcare equipment as required by the position. Ability to sit on the floor, bend, kneel, reach, stand, and walk for extended periods. Ability to respond quickly to children's needs and emergencies. Ability to perform diapering, feeding, cleaning, and classroom-maintenance duties. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in a childcare environment. Experience Requirement Applicants must have previous experience working with children in a professional or structured childcare environment.
