POSITION SUMMARY
Provides direct supervision of a group of children in Preschool. Implements and uses the Creative Curriculum to educate 3-5 year olds and to ensure kindergarten readiness. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Supervises and leads a group of children.
  • Plans and implements educational activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA core values.
  • Follows a curriculum that provides a learning environment.
  • Tests students at least twice a year to have measurement of impact.
  • Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff.
  • Supervises Preschool Aide.
  • Represent the YMCA at community events that involve children's activities.
  • Be flexible to attend required Family Nights, Meetings, and training.
  • Keeps current with all department specific goals.
  • Follows department dress codes daily and wears name tag.
  • Adheres to all safe practices by following consumer‑boundary policies, adhering to procedures for supervising high‑risk activities, promptly reporting suspicious or inappropriate behavior or policy violations while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Always have a friendly, helpful attitude and wear a smile.
  • Take initiative to greet and assist all members, potential members, program participants and volunteers in a courteous, professional and friendly manner.
  • Be enthusiastic towards members by learning their names and expressing an interest in their YMCA activities.
  • Work daily to develop personal and meaningful relationships with members, volunteers, donors and others.
  • This position works can align with afterschool kinder program position as well.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Teaching Certificate Preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children preferably in a preschool setting or classroom setting or some type.
  • Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: preschool classroom, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, and working with large groups.
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Completes onboarding process before first shift of Child Abuse Prevention training CPR, First Aid, AED certifications.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including walking, standing, bending, kneeling, leaning, reaching and lifting.
  • Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with the unique challenges of a non-profit community service organization.
  • Ability to work irregular work hours, including nights and weekends, fulfilling MOD rotation requirements.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
  • Ability to interact with a diversity of people and various levels of personnel using sound judgment on ambiguous issues.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Pay:
$16.00 - $20.00 per hour
