Job Description
Preschool Assistant Teacher | Full Time | Fall Opening Creative Arts Preschool is looking for an Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our classroom team for the upcoming school year. We are a small, art and nature based preschool, and I am looking for someone who genuinely enjoys young children and wants to be an active part of their day. I serve as the lead teacher and program director and work alongside our assistant teachers in the classroom. I lead our lessons and curriculum, while our assistant teachers are very much a part of everything we do. They help children through transitions, join in play, support art projects and activities, head outside with us, and help create the warm, calm environment we want our children to experience each day. Our program serves children ages two and a half to five. Our days include lots of hands-on art, music and movement, imaginative play, stories, outdoor play, and daily nature walks. We keep our class sizes small so we can really get to know the children and give them plenty of opportunities to create, explore, and learn naturally. Position Details Monday through Friday Approximately 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Preschool begins August 31 Full or nearly full time preferred Some flexibility may be available for the right person Small, supportive classroom team Art and nature based curriculum Daily outdoor time throughout the year You Might Be a Great Fit If You Truly enjoy spending your day with young children Are warm, dependable, and comfortable jumping in where needed Naturally engage with children during play rather than simply supervising Enjoy helping children navigate friendships, emotions, and everyday challenges Like art, creativity, nature, music, movement, and being outside Work well as part of a small teaching team Notice what needs to be done and are comfortable taking initiative What You'll Do Support children during play, lessons, activities, and transitions Help with hands-on art projects and creative activities Engage with children during free play and outdoor time Support children's social and emotional development Help with lunch, rest time, and daily classroom routines Assist with light classroom preparation and cleanup Join us for daily nature walks and outdoor exploration Help keep the classroom feeling calm, welcoming, and organized Experience Preschool or early childhood classroom experience is preferred, although I am happy to consider someone with strong childcare experience who feels genuinely drawn to our program. CPR and First Aid certification is required or must be obtained after hiring. Compensation $15 to $18 per hour to start, based on experience and qualifications Opportunities for increased pay, responsibility, and growth over time A Few Extra Perks Teachers may have the opportunity to bring their preschool-aged child at no cost, depending on classroom fit and availability Consistent weekday schedule Supportive, close-knit teaching environment No evenings or weekends A creative classroom where art projects, nature walks, music, movement, and getting a little messy are part of the job More than anything, I am looking for someone who will become a steady, positive part of our classroom. Our teachers get to know our children and families well, and I value people who bring warmth, reliability, initiative, and a genuine enjoyment of young children to the school each day. If our program sounds like an environment you would enjoy being part of, I would love to hear from you.
