POSITION PURPOSE The Daycare Director creates and updates program curriculum planning for the daycare program site, supervises and directly interacts with daycare assistants and children engaged in physical activities, prepares materials required to implement the planned daily activities and ensures that children are able to participate in group activities in a safe and supervised manner. The Daycare Director also directly works with parents of the children enrolled in the after school program for their assigned site for enrollment, payments, statements, updates, and performs clerical duties for the program.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of six (6) months experience working successfully with daycare/childcare programs

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Experience working successfully with daycare/childcare programs
Sufficient knowledge of processes for addressing behavioral issues and reporting them to proper personnel
Demonstrated ability to work well with children, staff, parents and community
Some understanding of school age needs and expectations
Ability to engage children effectively in pre-planned activities and programs
Ability to update and maintain student daycare enrollment, student daycare records and payments, and additional online clerical functions as needed
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary as a Daycare Director
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the NC Department of Motor Vehicles
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Credits towards an Associate's Degree/ or Associate's Degree from an accredited institution in Early Childhood Education, Youth Development, or related area

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Program activity planning
Plan and conduct daily activities for the children in the Program that contribute to the care, growth, and development of the children who attend the program
Prepare materials required to implement the daily activity plans
Manage the distribution and collection of games and materials used in activities
Facilitate curriculum activities or areas to provide positive learning experiences for the children
Supervise physical activities
Participate with children in group games
Enforce safety rules
Intervene when children are likely to injure themselves or each other
Ensure a staff member remains with the children at all times
Prepare and maintain program materials
Communicate with parents, daycare assistants, and principal regarding difficult individual child behavior
Assist children with self-care activities
Plan, order supplies, and assist with snack/meal service, including minor clean-up
Attend required number of hours needed for professional growth annually Maintain a physical presence in the daycare spaces with the children at all times during program hours, except in the case of emergency
Follow licensing and school procedures to safeguard the health and safety of the children in the program, which includes but is not limited to: hand washing, sanitary measures, playground safety rules, and rules regarding the use of supplies and equipment
Update, maintain, and remain current in knowledge of the emergency file and emergency procedures
Remain current with the tornado and fire procedures for the program schedule and assist in the supervision of required drills
Interact positively with all parents and refers questions and concerns to the principal as appropriate
Adhere to all licensing and School Age Care Environmental Rating Scale (SACERS) requirements 23.
Update and maintain student enrollments, emergency and student information, as well accurate student attendance reports.
Work with parents concerning student enrollment, behavior, accounts due, and daycare schedule in a professional manner that adheres to all ABSS and Board of Education policies.
Communication with parents concerning dues owed for student enrollment and attendance.
Collection and deposit of student enrollment fees according to the ABSS finance policies with the ability to deposit funds daily if needed as well keep clear and accurate records for reports and tax statements.
Scheduling and working with daycare assistants and subs to ensure student needs are met in a professional, nondiscriminatory manner.
WORKING CONDITIONS
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force. Substantial amount of time spent standing and/or walking.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employees in this position are required to work in indoor and outdoor environments, and come into direct contact with ABSS staff, students and the public.
