ILIM is looking for a part-time Music Teacher who believes music is a language of its own — one more way our students learn to listen, express, and connect. You'll guide students from toddlers through middle school in singing, simple instruments, and the pure joy of melody, building a lifelong love of music alongside real skill. If you light up teaching a room full of children to sing, clap, and play, and you're open to extending that love of music through private lessons outside of school, we'd love to meet you.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

Teach music as its own language — rhythm, melody, and expression — across every age band, from toddlers to middle schoolers. Lead singing and vocal exploration as a core part of instruction at every level. Introduce and teach simple instruments appropriate to each age group, building foundational technique. Create opportunities for students to compose and create their own music, not just reproduce it. Design age-appropriate lessons that build a genuine love of music, balancing play with real skill-building. Create performance or showcase opportunities for students to share their musical growth. Partner with classroom and language faculty on cross-curricular music moments where appropriate. Optionally offer private or small-group music lessons outside of school hours for interested families.

WHO YOU ARE A

musician and teacher who sees music as a language — something to be spoken, played, and lived, not just studied. Comfortable teaching an enormous age range, from toddlers to middle schoolers, adjusting approach for each. Playful, warm, and able to make every child feel like a musician, regardless of skill level. Skilled in voice and at least one instrument, with the versatility to introduce several simple instruments to young learners. Entrepreneurial and open to building a private lesson roster alongside your work at

ILIM. QUALIFICATIONS

Background or degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field (or equivalent teaching experience). Experience teaching music to young children (toddler through elementary preferred; middle school experience a plus). Proficiency in voice and at least one instrument; comfort teaching simple instruments to beginners. Experience or interest in offering private music lessons outside of school. Background check clearance required (standard for all ILIM staff).

Pay:

$19.00 - $22.00 per hour
