The ideal candidate builds positive relationships with children and families, plans meaningful learning experiences, and supports each child's social-emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and lead play-based, age-appropriate learning experiences aligned with the center's curriculum and children's individual needs.
- Maintain active supervision and a welcoming classroom that meets applicable staff-to-child ratios, sanitation practices, and health and safety requirements.
- Use positive guidance and responsive caregiving practices that promote self-regulation, independence, and respectful peer interactions.
- Observe and document children's learning and development; use observations to inform lesson planning and communicate progress with families.
- Build collaborative, professional relationships with families, colleagues, and community partners.
- Follow procedures for attendance, medication, allergies, emergency response, incident reporting, and mandated reporting.
- Maintain an organized classroom and support daily routines, including meals, rest, toileting, indoor learning, and outdoor play.
- Participate in staff meetings, required training, and ongoing professional development. Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- North Carolina Early Childhood Credential (NCECC/EDU 119), or currently enrolled to obtain it educational requirements for this field..
- Ability to obtain and maintain a qualifying North Carolina childcare criminal background check determination.
- Requirements a Staff Health Assessment/ Medical Report and Tuberculosis Screening within the past year completed.
- Ability to complete required orientation, health and safety training, and age-appropriate training including First Aid and CPR certification and ITSID'S within applicable deadlines.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of early childhood care, including frequent movement at floor level and safely lifting up to [30-40] pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Reliable attendance, clear communication, sound judgment, and a commitment to confidentiality and child safety. Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or additional North Carolina early childhood coursework.
- One or more years of experience in a licensed early care and education program.
- Experience with [infants/toddlers/preschool/pre-K], inclusive practices, and observation-based assessment.
