Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Practice Base Coach (PBC) will work closely with Center Directors, Teachers and NEW CA Inc. Head Start Management team in developing, implementing, and provide ongoing assessments to ensure high-quality child development practices that lead to school readiness. The PBC will support the instructional development of Head Start (HS) and Early Head Start (EHS) teachers in implementing best practices for in-person and remote learning, with an understanding of Board and Policy Council approved curriculum, research evidence-based screening tool to assess children 6 weeks to 5 years old. The PBC will have the ability to analyze data and adhere to all federal, state and local regulations.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Promote quality care for all enrolled HS/EHS children by enhancing teachers' abilities to:- form positive, trusting relationships with enrolled children and their families
- respond appropriately and consistently to children's behavior
- use routines as opportunities for growth and learning
- provide developmentally appropriate activities that facilitate children's overall growth and development.
ITERS-R & ECERS-R
material checklist. Support teachers in individualizing activities that align with young children's IFSPs, IEPs and Mental Health goals. Assist in classrooms to maintain proper staffing levels or meet specific needs. Support staff with special projects and tasks as assigned Record Keeping and Monitoring- Complete monitoring tasks (educational record reviews, observations, etc.) as assigned in EHS/HS classrooms.
- Document all monitoring tasks and assistance to teachers and summarize all activities in monthly reports
- Maintain Center-Based education tracking systems for EHS/HS center-based children and teaching staff
- Complete classroom visits to follow up with staff and to monitor for understanding and implementation of concepts taught Provide one-to-one reflective strategies for improving teacher-child interactions and how to work with cultural, linguistically, and developmentally diverse groups of children by providing a coaching plan Conduct small group meetings for teaching staff to discuss appropriate curriculum planning and implementation, the ongoing assessment process, and how to individualize curriculum Assist in the delivery of the developmental screening and assessment Assist in the delivery of orientation training for new staff
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum bachelor's degree in child development, early childhood development or human development Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in coaching and training early childhood professionals and paraprofessionals, including program planning, quality improvement, early childhood curriculum and assessments. Knowledge of and experience using the approved curriculum, assessments and evidence-based tools (CLASS, ECERS, ITERS) Strong verbal and written communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic office equipment Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment Commitment to the mission and values of a non-profit organization Possess a valid North Carolina Driver's LicenseWORKING CONDITIONS
