Working alongside the General Manager, this position is responsible for ensuring the facility operates efficiently each day through exceptional team leadership, scheduling, operational execution, and facility presentation. The Assistant General Manager leads by example, coaches employees, maintains high operational standards, and helps create an environment where both our dogs and our team thrive. Primary ResponsibilitiesDaily Operations Assist in overseeing the daily operation of daycare, boarding, grooming, enrichment, and front desk services. Ensure all departments are fully staffed and operating efficiently. Open and close the facility as needed. Assist in maintaining smooth daily workflow while resolving operational issues quickly. Ensure all company policies and procedures are consistently followed. Scheduling & Staffing Build and maintain weekly employee schedules. Manage daily staffing adjustments due to call-outs or business demands. Monitor labor needs while maintaining excellent customer service. Coordinate employee breaks and shift coverage. Assist with interviewing and onboarding new team members. Staff Development Coach and mentor employees through daily interactions. Train new hires on company policies, procedures, and expectations. Reinforce accountability and consistent performance standards. Recognize strong performance while addressing concerns professionally. Help create a positive, supportive, and team-oriented work environment. Facility Standards Ensure the building is consistently clean, organized, and welcoming. Perform routine facility walkthroughs throughout each day. Maintain high sanitation standards throughout daycare, boarding, grooming, play yards, and common areas. Monitor maintenance needs and communicate repairs promptly. Ensure supplies are stocked and organized. Dog Care & Safety Maintain a safe environment for every dog in our care. Ensure proper handling procedures and group management are followed. Support team members during evaluations, introductions, and incident response. Assist with documentation of incidents and client communication when needed. Customer Experience Deliver exceptional customer service during every interaction. Resolve routine customer concerns professionally. Support front desk operations during busy periods. Build lasting relationships with clients and their pets.
Qualifications Preferred candidates will possess:
Previous leadership or supervisory experience. Experience creating employee schedules. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to coach and motivate employees. Excellent communication skills. Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail. Comfortable making decisions independently. Experience in pet care, veterinary medicine, hospitality, childcare, retail, fitness, or customer service leadership is highly desirable. A genuine love of dogs is essential.
