Full-time | Long-term | 9 am - 1 pm ECE Educator | 5 am - 9 am Family Assistant | Spanish | Montessori or Waldorf | Beachtown location Our leading educational firm is conducting a private search for an exceptional early-childhood educator to help build a deeply individualized educational experience around a one-year-old boy in Asbury Park, New Jersey. This is not a traditional educator or nanny position. The child's mother will remain his primary hands-on caregiver and is seeking an accomplished educator who can bring expertise, creativity and intention to his early years while working closely alongside her. The full-time position combines approximately 20 hours per week of private early-childhood education with 20 hours of household and family support. The family's goal is to protect the joy of childhood while creating an extraordinary environment for learning, exploration, and discovery. The Educational Opportunity At one year old, learning should feel like childhood. Through purposeful play, conversation, Spanish, books, music, movement, nature and everyday experiences, the educator will create opportunities for learning that reflect the child's developmental stage, emerging interests and individual personality. Rather than bringing a classroom into the home, the educator will observe the child closely and build increasingly individualized experiences around how he learns and what captures his curiosity. Spanish will be woven naturally throughout his days. The family is also drawn to Montessori and Waldorf approaches and values child-led, developmentally appropriate learning. As he grows, his education can grow with him, incorporating science, nature, culture, astronomy, travel, creativity and the subjects that begin to capture his imagination. Key Educational Responsibilities Design engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences Create a language-rich environment through conversation, books, music and play Incorporate Spanish naturally throughout the child's day Support communication, cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development through purposeful activities Incorporate appropriate Montessori and/or Waldorf principles Observe and build upon emerging interests, strengths and developmental readiness Develop activities his mother can participate in and continue Prepare and organize educational materials and learning environments Appropriately reinforce recommendations from developmental professionals Help shape an increasingly individualized educational approach as the child grows A Collaborative Parent-Educator Partnership The child's mother intends to remain deeply involved in his education and wants to learn alongside him. She is looking for an educator who is confident in her professional expertise and enjoys sharing her observations, explaining the purpose behind activities and helping a parent understand how learning can continue naturally throughout everyday life. The educator brings professional expertise. The parent brings an unparalleled understanding of her child. Together, they will create the environment in which he learns. Household & Family Support Approximately half of the position will be devoted to practical household and family support, helping preserve more of the mother's time for her child and growing family.

Responsibilities may include:

Grocery shopping and household supply management Package pickup and follow-up Refrigerator and pantry organization Selected errands Occasional logistical support during appointments Coordination household cleaning professionals Organization of educational materials and supplies Other mutually agreed-upon household support Routine household cleaning is not part of the position. The right candidate should enjoy the variety of a hybrid position and understand how the household-support component contributes to the family's larger goal. Important Physical-Interaction Boundary The family reserves routine physical contact and hands-on caregiving for family members. The educator will not provide traditional nanny care such as diapering, bathing or carrying. Physical contact is reserved for family, however, physical intervention is expected whenever reasonably necessary to protect the child's immediate safety. The family uses warm, engaging, contact-free approaches to interaction and emotional regulation and will work closely with the educator to continually develop these strategies as the child grows. Candidates must be genuinely comfortable developing a warm, playful, and responsive relationship with a young child while respecting this boundary. The home also uses disclosed audio/video monitoring for safety.

Qualifications Strong candidates will have:

Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a closely related educational field Montessori or Waldorf certification, formal training or significant experience Substantial professional experience with infants and toddlers Deep knowledge of early-childhood development Fluency in Spanish and English Experience introducing Spanish to young children Experience with play-based and child-led learning Excellent observation, planning and communication skills Interest in science, nature, culture and the wider world Ability and appropriate documentation to travel domestically and internationally Beyond credentials, we are looking for an educator who is: Warm, playful, patient, curious, highly competent, organized, collaborative, adaptable and trustworthy.
