Little Bees Daycare is a faith-based early childhood education center dedicated to providing children with a safe, loving, nurturing, structured, and educational environment where they can learn, grow, and thrive. We are looking for a dependable, compassionate, energetic, organized, and experienced Head Teacher to lead our Toddler Room. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for working with toddlers, strong classroom management skills, and the ability to provide leadership and direction to supporting classroom staff. Position Summary Lead Toddler Teacher is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the toddler classroom and providing a safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate, and engaging learning environment. The Lead Toddler Teacher will take a leadership role in implementing classroom curriculum, maintaining daily routines, supervising and guiding classroom staff, communicating with families, completing required documentation, and ensuring that the classroom follows Little Bees Daycare policies and applicable New Jersey childcare licensing requirements. The Lead Toddler Teacher should understand the unique developmental needs of toddlers and be able to create an environment that encourages language development, independence, positive social interaction, emotional development, early learning, and age-appropriate faith-based instruction. Job Responsibilities Provide attentive and appropriate supervision of toddlers at all times. Serve as the primary teacher and classroom leader for the Toddler Room. Establish and maintain a safe, loving, structured, clean, and welcoming classroom environment. Plan, prepare, and implement developmentally appropriate toddler lesson plans and classroom activities. Lead age-appropriate educational activities involving early literacy, numbers, colors, shapes, language development, sensory exploration, fine and gross motor development, music, movement, art, and play. Incorporate age-appropriate faith-based learning, including Bible stories, prayer, songs, kindness, sharing, manners, and character-building lessons. Maintain a consistent daily classroom schedule and age-appropriate routines. Support toddlers as they develop independence and learn important self-help skills. Assist children with meals, snacks, diapering, toilet training, handwashing, rest time, transitions, and other daily care routines. Follow proper diapering, toileting, handwashing, cleaning, and sanitation procedures. Create activities that encourage language development and help toddlers learn to appropriately communicate their needs and emotions. Encourage positive social interactions, sharing, kindness, cooperation, and age-appropriate classroom behavior. Use positive and developmentally appropriate behavior guidance techniques. Observe children's developmental progress and communicate concerns or milestones appropriately. Maintain accurate classroom records, attendance information, daily reports, incident reports, and other required documentation. Monitor children for signs of illness, injury, developmental concerns, or changes in behavior and promptly report concerns to management. Communicate professionally, respectfully, and positively with parents and guardians regarding their child's day and classroom experience. Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, employees, and center information. Ensure toys, learning materials, equipment, and classroom areas are cleaned and sanitized appropriately. Prepare and maintain classroom learning centers and developmentally appropriate materials. Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios and supervision requirements. Participate in outdoor play and gross motor activities with children. Follow all Little Bees Daycare health, safety, emergency, and security procedures. Participate in emergency drills and know the classroom's emergency evacuation procedures. Attend required staff meetings, professional development, orientation, and training. Work cooperatively with Directors, management, teachers, assistants, and other Little Bees Daycare staff. Assist in other classrooms when necessary to support the overall needs of the center. Perform other childcare and classroom-related duties assigned by the Directors. Lead Toddler Teacher Leadership Responsibilities As the Lead Teacher of the Toddler Room, this position includes additional classroom leadership responsibilities.

The Lead Teacher Will:

Take primary responsibility for the organization and daily operation of the Toddler Room. Provide direction, support, and appropriate guidance to Assistant Teachers and other classroom staff. Delegate classroom responsibilities fairly and effectively. Model professionalism, patience, positive communication, and appropriate interactions with children. Ensure classroom staff consistently follow Little Bees Daycare policies and procedures. Ensure classroom routines, diapering schedules, meal schedules, rest periods, cleaning procedures, and learning activities are completed properly. Help train and support new staff members assigned to the Toddler Room. Communicate classroom needs, supply needs, staffing concerns, behavioral concerns, and other important matters to the Directors. Maintain an organized classroom and ensure required classroom materials and documentation are completed. Help create a positive team environment where staff members work together to provide exceptional care. Maintain professional boundaries and address classroom concerns appropriately through management. Serve as a positive example of the standards and values expected of Little Bees Daycare employees.

Qualifications Preferred candidates should have:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience working in a licensed daycare, childcare center, preschool, early childhood program, or similar setting strongly preferred. Previous experience specifically working with toddlers strongly preferred. Previous Lead Teacher, Head Teacher, or classroom leadership experience is a plus. Knowledge of toddler development and developmentally appropriate practices. Ability to plan and implement age-appropriate toddler curriculum and activities. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Strong leadership and teamwork abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to professionally communicate with parents and families. Patience, dependability, maturity, professionalism, and a positive attitude. Ability to appropriately guide and support Assistant Teachers and classroom staff. Genuine passion for early childhood education and caring for young children. Ability to work respectfully within a faith-based childcare environment. Ability to meet all applicable New Jersey childcare employment, staff qualification, and licensing requirements for the position.

Employment Requirements:

Candidates selected for employment must be willing and able to complete all required onboarding, documentation, training, and clearances, including: Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) fingerprint/background check, when applicable. Child Abuse Record Information (CARI) background check. Required health documentation. Required childcare orientation and training. CPR/First Aid certification as required or requested. Required professional development and ongoing training. Any additional documentation, education, experience, training, or credentials required by Little Bees Daycare or New Jersey childcare licensing regulations for the position. Physical Requirements Applicants should be able to: Sit on the floor and actively interact with toddlers. Frequently bend, kneel, stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom. Safely lift, carry, or assist young children when necessary. Assist with diapering and toilet training. Participate in indoor and outdoor activities. Set up and clean classroom activities and learning materials. Maintain active supervision throughout the workday. Respond quickly and appropriately during emergencies.
