Head Teacher (Toddlers) - Jersey City three little birds is seeking an experienced, nurturing, and highly organized Head Teacher to lead our Toddler classroom within our Reggio-inspired, play-based early childhood program. We are located in a beautiful, newly designed space in the Bergen-Lafayette neighborhood of Jersey City, just blocks from Liberty State Park. As our school continues to grow, we are building a team of educators who are not only warm and responsive caregivers, but strong classroom leaders who take pride in maintaining high standards for children, families, and their classroom environment. This is not a traditional daycare role. We are a professional early childhood program with high expectations for quality, communication, organization, and child-centered care. About the Role Our Head Toddler Teacher serves as the leader of the toddler classroom, creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can thrive and blossom. This role requires someone who understands toddlers deeply while also maintaining strong classroom systems, health and safety practices, organization, documentation, and communication with families. We are looking for an educator who can balance responsive caregiving with professionalism, consistency, and leadership. What You'll Do Classroom Leadership & Environment Lead and manage all aspects of the toddler classroom Create a calm, nurturing, responsive environment that supports each child's development Maintain consistent classroom routines and systems Ensure the classroom is clean, organized, fully stocked, and prepared each day Create engaging sensory experiences, invitations to explore, and developmentally appropriate activities Guide and support assistant teachers while maintaining a positive and professional team culture Collaborate with leadership to maintain consistency and quality across the program Toddler Development & Curriculum Support the students' cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and language development through responsive caregiving and intentional interactions Observe children's interests and developmental progress to plan meaningful experiences Design developmentally appropriate sensory, art, music, movement, and exploration opportunities Foster secure attachments and trusting relationships with each child Create an environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and independence Health, Safety & Licensing Compliance Ensure all health, safety, and licensing requirements are consistently followed Maintain accurate feeding, diapering, sleep, and daily care records Monitor classroom supplies, children's belongings, and individual care needs Follow safe sleep practices, sanitation procedures, food handling guidelines, and diapering protocols Maintain organized classroom systems and documentation Take initiative to identify and address compliance needs before issues arise Family Partnership & Communication Build strong, trusting relationships with families Communicate clearly and professionally with parents regarding their child's day, development, milestones, and needs. Maintain daily communication with families through Brightwheel.
