We're looking for that special teacher who can walk into a room of 2

  • 3• 4• and 5-year-olds and instantly make them feel excited, comfortable, and ready to dance.

Someone warm, energetic, playful, patient, and dependable . Someone who understands that at this age, a wonderful dance class is about so much more than teaching steps. It's about building confidence, creating connection, celebrating little victories, and giving children an experience that makes them light up when they hear, "It's dance day!" About Backstage Backstage Performing Arts Center has been part of the Rutherford community for 16 years , and the family atmosphere we've built is at the heart of who we are. Our students grow up with us. Our families know our teachers. And our team genuinely cares about the children who walk through our doors. We're looking for a teacher who wants to become part of that community—not simply come in, teach a class, and leave. The Classes Our Friday teacher will lead: Tiny Tots | Ages 18 months-3 years An energetic, age-appropriate introduction to movement and dance designed for our littlest dancers. Ballet/Tap | Ages 4-5 A fun and engaging introduction to ballet and tap that builds foundational skills while keeping young dancers moving, learning, and excited to come back each week.

Schedule:

Fridays, 4:45-6:15 PM Our Ideal Teacher Above all else, you are phenomenal with young children . Previous experience teaching this age group is strongly preferred. While dance training is important, we believe the ability to connect with and successfully teach young children is what makes an exceptional early childhood dance teacher.

You are someone who:

Brings genuine warmth and positive energy into the classroom Knows how to engage children ages 18 months-5 Can balance structure with creativity, imagination, and fun Is patient, encouraging, and comfortable communicating with parents Understands that young children learn through movement, repetition, play, and connection Is a supportive, positive member of a team Is highly dependable and consistent Reliability is especially important to us. Our youngest dancers thrive on consistency and relationships with their teachers, and our team depends on one another to show up and give our students the experience they deserve. A Place to Grow We love investing in great teachers. For the right person, this position has the opportunity to grow beyond these Friday classes. As our programs grow, there may be opportunities to add additional classes, expand your role, and participate in additional training and professional development. We want teachers who are excited to grow with us. Compensation Starting at $35/hour, with higher compensation available based on experience. If your favorite part of teaching dance is watching a hesitant little dancer walk into the studio and eventually become the child who can't wait for class each week, we want to hear from you.
