Overview We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as Special Needs After School Program Supervisor. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a safe, engaging, fun environment for children in our afterschool program. You will work closely with special needs students ages 3-21 to foster their development, encourage participation in activities, and support each child's needs and abilities. Duties Schedule and supervise staff to ensure adequate staff/child ratio Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment conducive to learning. Schedule and conduct meet and greet with parents and child to assure good fit Plan, implement, and document required monthly fire and safety drills Plan and implement age-appropriate recreational activities that promote social skills and interaction. Supervise and engage with children during program activities, ensuring their safety and well-being. Foster positive relationships with children and families by encouraging participation and promoting a sense of belonging. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians via phone/text/email regarding children's progress and any concerns that may arise. Assist with first aid as needed and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Create and maintain up to date emergency information binder listing all actively participating children Requirements Experience working with special needs children in various settings. Knowledge of childhood development is highly desirable. Skills in behavior management to effectively address various situations that may arise. First aid /CPR/AED certification a plus; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and colleagues. A compassionate approach to working with children from diverse backgrounds. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
