West Bloomfield School District Position Summary The Assistant Early Childhood Program Coordinator provides leadership for the Early Childhood program offered through the Community Education function of the West Bloomfield School District. The Assistant Early Childhood Program Coordinator is responsible for overall coordination of the Program, including the development and implementation of instructional services, supervision of staff and adult learners, promoting and publicizing the Program, maintaining the program budget, and overseeing grant submissions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide overall administration of the Assistant Early Childhood Program, develop and encourage a program vision, and apply applicable District policies to the program implementation. Assist the Coordinator with the daily operation and oversight of preschool and school-age before
  • and after-care programs across multiple locations.
Assist with maintaining compliance with Michigan Child Care Licensing requirements, GSRP/Pre-K for All requirements, and district policies and procedures. Support implementation of HighScope curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices within preschool classrooms. Provide leadership, guidance, and day-to-day support to teaching, support, and Kids Connect staff. Design and implement instructional programs for the Assistant Early Childhood Program, including the development of curriculum and instructional materials. Assign and direct the work of program employees, including supervision of their work, training, disciplining, and evaluating job performance. Conduct classroom observations of instructional staff. Determine staffing needs required for implementation of programs, conduct hiring interviews, and recommend staff for employment. Assist with staff meetings, professional development, program events, family engagement activities, and other department initiatives. Oversee and support Kids Connect before
  • and after-school programming, including staffing, schedules, activities, and site operations.
Support staff with MiRegistry, required professional development, CPR/First Aid, Vector training, and other required trainings. Assist with staff scheduling and ensure appropriate staffing and child-to-staff ratios are maintained at all program locations. Manage the physical space in terms of safety and welfare of students and staff. Develop plans for emergency situations, in cooperation with other District personnel and public safety agencies. Create program schedules and supervise facility usage. Recruit students to the Early Childhood Program, provide student advising, and assess student progress and completion of program objectives. Supervise the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, with follow-up contact where necessary. Promote the Early Childhood Program and work in partnership with other departments to publicize and market the Program inside and outside the District. Prepare district, county, state, and federal audits and reports as necessary. Develop and maintain a program budget. Complete grant applications and report submissions in order to secure adequate funding to cover program costs. Address complaints and problems as required. Relate to students with mutual respect while carrying out a positive and effective learning environment. Serve as a member of the District's Administrative Council and attend Board of Education and other district meetings as directed. Independently organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up on assignments. Maintain regular and reliable work-site attendance. Communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and in writing. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required. Master's degree and current Michigan administrator certificate preferred. Knowledge of HighScope curriculum preferred. Thorough knowledge of early childhood programming preferred. Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of relevant technology applications preferred. Successful experience interacting with a diverse population of students, families, and staff preferred. Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed.
