• Position Details
• The School of Education at The City College of New York invites applications for a full-time, Assistant Professor position in Literacy and Early Childhood Education to begin in the Fall of 2027.

The position requires service to the department and college and academic advisement. The successful candidate is expected to collaborate with colleagues to seek external funding, to collaborate with local school districts, to teach literacy courses and courses in the Early Childhood Education program, and to participate in committee work. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to design and eventually direct or co-direct a graduate P-12 literacy program.

• QUALIFICATIONS
• Ph.

D. or Ed.

D. in Literacy, Reading, Language Education, or a related field. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

• Preferred Qualifications
• + Experience teaching or working in an official capacity in public schools, daycare centers, or community-based early childhood education settings. + Experience teaching face-to-face, online, and hybrid courses. + Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. + Commitment to urban education + Ability to teach courses in other areas, preferably childhood education or special education.
• COMPENSATION
• Salary Range:
• $79,630 - $89,777 CUNY offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs. We also provide mentoring and support for research, scholarship, and publication as part of our commitment to ongoing faculty professional development.
