Job Description

A lead teacher position for the NYS Pre-Kindergarten program for three year old children is available at Whitney Point Preschool beginning in late August. We are a community partner of the Whitney Point Central School. You will be an employee of WPPS/DC; not of the school district. The hours of this position are Monday
  • Friday 8:00pm
  • 3:00pm Candidates for this position will be expected to: Have a certification plan that will lead to obtaining NYS teacher certification for Birth
  • Grade 2 within 5 years after commencing employment.
Possess a Bachelor's degree including, or in addition to, 12 credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field. Have one year experience related to teaching and/ or caring for children. Have experience supervising staff in a child care program or related field of work. Candidates must be mindful of varying strengths, skills, abilities, languages and developmental levels of the preschool age child. Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences. Prepare required reports on students and activities. Acquire and maintain all necessary records as required by NYS OCFS, the Whitney Point Central School District and Whitney Point Preschool. Participate in Whitney Point Central School 3PK department meetings, WPPS/DC meetings, trainings and parent conferences. Maintain the health and safety of each child in the classroom. Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students with varying needs. Candidates must be willing to share their joy of discovery and learning with children, be patient, kind, treat children with respect, have a dedication to bringing out the potential in each child and have a willingness to help each child gain in confidence and independence.
