Position Summary The Daycare Assistant supports the Lead Teacher and classroom team in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for young children. The ideal candidate is caring, dependable, patient, energetic, and enjoys working as part of a team. The Daycare Assistant will help with daily classroom activities, supervision, routines, and the overall care and well-being of the children. Essential Responsibilities Assist teachers with the daily supervision and care of children. Help create a warm, positive, and welcoming classroom environment. Engage children in age-appropriate activities, including art, music, stories, sensory play, outdoor play, and other learning experiences. Assist with classroom routines such as meals, snacks, diapering, toileting, nap/rest time, and transitions. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom. Follow all center health, safety, and supervision policies. Help prepare classroom materials and activities. Interact positively and appropriately with children at all times. Communicate respectfully and professionally with teachers, administrators, children, and families. Assist with maintaining accurate classroom records and completing assigned responsibilities. Work cooperatively with other staff members to ensure consistent and high-quality care. Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities as required. Perform other duties as assigned by the Center Director or Lead Teacher. Qualifications Previous experience working with children is preferred but not required. A genuine interest in working with young children. Ability to work effectively as part of a classroom team. Dependable, responsible, and punctual. Patient, positive, and enthusiastic personality. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow directions and center policies. Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality. Must meet all applicable state requirements for employment in a childcare setting, including required background checks and clearances. Physical Requirements The position may require frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, sitting on the floor, and assisting children with daily routines. Employees should be able to safely perform the physical responsibilities associated with caring for young children.
