Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesChild Care & Supervision Provide attentive, responsive, and affectionate care to infants and toddlers throughout the day. Maintain active supervision at all times and ensure children are never left unattended. Maintain required staff-to-child ratios and follow all Bloom & Grow and Ohio childcare licensing requirements. Respond promptly and appropriately to children's individual needs. Provide a calm, loving environment where children feel safe, secure, and valued. Recognize and respond appropriately to children's verbal and nonverbal cues. Support children through transitions, separation anxiety, developing independence, and emerging social skills. Infant & Toddler Learning Plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences for infants and toddlers.Provide daily opportunities for:
Language and communication development Early literacy Music and movement Sensory exploration Fine and gross motor development Early math and problem-solving Art and creativity Social-emotional development Outdoor and nature exploration Bible lessons, prayer, worship, and Christian character development Use songs, books, conversation, movement, sensory materials, and hands-on experiences throughout the day. Encourage language development by frequently talking, singing, reading, labeling objects, and responding to children's communication attempts. Encourage age-appropriate independence and self-help skills. Provide appropriate tummy time and floor exploration for infants. Create learning opportunities through everyday routines such as meals, diapering, dressing, and play. Lead Teacher Responsibilities As the classroom Lead Teacher, this position is responsible for providing leadership and maintaining the overall organization and quality of the infant/toddler classroom.Responsibilities include:
Prepare and implement weekly lesson plans according to Bloom & Grow's curriculum and monthly themes. Ensure classroom activities are appropriate for the developmental abilities of each child. Provide direction and support to assistant teachers and classroom aides. Clearly communicate classroom expectations and daily responsibilities to assisting staff. Ensure classroom routines are followed consistently. Delegate classroom responsibilities appropriately while maintaining overall accountability for the classroom. Maintain required classroom documentation. Monitor classroom materials and notify administration when supplies are needed. Ensure classroom learning centers, toys, equipment, and materials are organized and developmentally appropriate. Communicate classroom concerns promptly to administration. Model professional and appropriate childcare practices for other staff. Health, Safety & Personal Care The Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher must consistently follow all health and safety procedures.Responsibilities include:
Properly change diapers and assist with toileting according to licensing and sanitation procedures. Wash children's hands and ensure proper teacher handwashing procedures are followed. Sanitize diapering areas, toys, tables, feeding equipment, and classroom surfaces as required. Safely prepare and serve bottles, meals, and snacks according to each child's feeding plan. Follow all breast milk, formula, bottle, food allergy, and dietary procedures. Follow safe sleep practices for infants at all times. Properly supervise sleeping children according to licensing requirements. Maintain a clean, sanitary, organized, and hazard-free classroom. Complete required health and safety checks. Immediately report injuries, illnesses, unusual behaviors, or safety concerns to administration. Complete incident/injury documentation accurately when required. Follow emergency, fire, tornado, lockdown, evacuation, and other center safety procedures. Family Communication Bloom & Grow values strong partnerships between families and teachers.The Lead Teacher will:
Greet children and families warmly each day. Maintain professional and respectful communication with parents and guardians. Provide families with appropriate updates regarding their child's: Meals and bottles Diapering/toileting Naps Activities Mood Development Significant events from the day Maintain accurate daily information in Brightwheel or other center-approved communication systems. Communicate concerns regarding development, behavior, feeding, sleeping, or health to administration before discussing significant concerns with families. Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, staff, and center information. Build positive relationships with families while maintaining professional boundaries. Classroom Environment The Lead Teacher is responsible for maintaining a classroom that is welcoming, safe, organized, and engaging.The classroom should:
Provide safe opportunities for movement and exploration. Display children's work and age-appropriate learning materials. Rotate toys and activities to encourage continued exploration. Maintain clearly organized materials. Provide appropriate areas for active play and quiet experiences. Remain clean and free of unnecessary clutter. Receive feedback professionally and make appropriate corrections when directed. Communicate respectfully with coworkers and administration. Work cooperatively as part of the Bloom & Grow team. Protect confidential information regarding children, families, employees, and center operations.Required Qualifications Applicants should:
Be at least 18 years of age . Have a high school diploma or equivalent. Meet all requirements established by the State of Ohio for their assigned childcare position. Successfully complete required background checks. Complete all required Ohio childcare trainings and certifications. Maintain current required certifications, including CPR/First Aid when applicable. Demonstrate knowledge of infant and toddler development. Demonstrate the ability to provide safe, nurturing, responsive care. Be able to communicate effectively with children, families, coworkers, and administration. Be dependable, patient, organized, and able to work effectively in a team environment. Preferred Qualifications Preference may be given to candidates with: Previous professional experience working with infants and toddlers. Infant/Toddler CDA or Early Childhood Education coursework. Associate's or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field. Previous Lead Teacher experience. Experience creating and implementing infant/toddler lesson plans. Knowledge of developmental milestones and age-appropriate practices. Experience using Brightwheel or similar childcare management software. Physical Requirements The Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher must be able to safely perform the physical responsibilities associated with caring for young children, including: Frequently sitting and playing with children on the floor. Bending, kneeling, reaching, and standing throughout the day. Lifting and carrying infants and toddlers as necessary. Lifting childcare materials and equipment. Assisting children during meals, diapering, dressing, and transitions. Moving quickly when necessary to ensure children's safety. Participating in indoor and outdoor activities. Remaining alert and actively supervising children throughout the workday.
