Job Description

The Goddard School in Independence is hiring a Childcare Administrative & Classroom Leadership Assistant. This position is for someone who has experience working in a licensed childcare center and understands that a successful early childhood program requires strong support in both the front office and classrooms. This is not a floating teacher position and it is not a desk-only office position. The person hired for this role should expect to spend approximately half of the day supporting office/administrative responsibilities and approximately half of the day working directly in classrooms to help maintain ratios, support teachers, model classroom expectations, and assist with daily school operations. The right candidate will be professional, dependable, organized, confident with children, and comfortable moving between parent-facing office responsibilities and hands-on classroom support.
Schedule Requirement:
Candidates must be available to work Monday through Friday until 6:15 p.m. This is a required part of the position.
Responsibilities include:
Supporting the leadership team with daily school operations Answering phones and greeting families professionally Assisting with parent communication and general office needs Helping with administrative tasks, paperwork, organization, and daily follow-up Providing classroom support for children ages 6 weeks through Pre-K Helping maintain classroom ratios when needed Supporting teachers during transitions, breaks, busy times, and staffing needs Modeling appropriate supervision, classroom routines, and professional expectations Assisting with staff training, coaching, and classroom guidance when appropriate Helping ensure classrooms follow school procedures and Ohio childcare licensing requirements Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times The ideal candidate: Has prior experience working in a licensed childcare center Understands classroom ratios, supervision, transitions, routines, and licensing expectations Is confident working directly with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and Pre-K children Is professional and comfortable communicating with families, teachers, and leadership Is organized enough to assist in the office and experienced enough to support classrooms Can lead by example and help reinforce school expectations Is calm, dependable, flexible, and able to make good decisions in a busy school environment Enjoys both administrative work and hands-on work with children Wants to be part of a professional early childhood program
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry young children as needed Must be able to bend, squat, kneel, sit on the floor, and get back up throughout the day Must be able to actively supervise and engage with children indoors and outdoors Must be able to move quickly when needed to ensure child safety Must be comfortable participating in classroom routines, play, transitions, outdoor time, and age-appropriate activities Must be able to perform the physical responsibilities of working in an early childhood classroom
Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years old Must have a high school diploma or equivalent Must have experience working in a licensed childcare center Must be available Monday through Friday until 6:16 p.m. Must be comfortable working directly with children ages 6 weeks through Pre-K Must be willing and able to work in classrooms as part of the regular position Must be able to meet all Ohio childcare licensing requirements Must be dependable, professional, and team-oriented
Pay:
$16.00 - $20.00 per hour

This position is approximately half administrative/office support and half hands-on classroom support with children ages 6 weeks through Pre-K. This includes helping maintain ratios, lifting children as needed, bending, sitting on the floor, outdoor play, transitions, and active supervision.
