Job Description
Do you love the busy, playful, hands-on stage between infancy and toddlerhood? The Goddard School of Independence is looking for a caring, dependable Infant Teacher to work with children approximately 12-18 months old. We are especially interested in candidates who already have experience working with infants or young toddlers in a licensed childcare center. However, we may be willing to train the right person who has a genuine interest in early childhood education and is eager to learn. This is a very active, hands-on classroom. Our children are learning to walk, communicate, explore, eat independently, follow simple routines, and develop their first relationships with teachers and friends. We are looking for someone who truly enjoys this age and is comfortable spending their entire workday caring for and engaging with children between 12 and 18 months old. What You'll Do As an Infant Teacher, you will: Provide warm, responsive and attentive care throughout the day Build strong, trusting relationships with each child Engage children in developmentally appropriate activities, play and exploration Help children develop early language, social, motor and self-help skills Follow individualized feeding, sleeping and care routines Change diapers and provide all necessary personal care Comfort children and help them work through separation, frustration and big emotions Maintain a clean, organized and safe classroom Communicate with families about their child's day and development Work closely with your co-teacher and school leadership Follow all childcare licensing, health and safety requirements Experience working with infants or young toddlers in a licensed childcare center is strongly preferred. Our ideal candidate already understands the routines, responsibilities and expectations that come with caring for children this age. We are looking for someone who is: Comfortable working with children ages 12-18 months Patient, nurturing and genuinely enjoys this stage of development Dependable and consistent, young children thrive when their caregivers are there for them every day Comfortable with diapering, feeding, cleaning and the physical demands of an infant/toddler classroom Able to get down on the floor, lift and carry children, and remain active throughout the day A strong communicator and team player Willing to learn and accept guidance and feedback Don't Have a Lot of Experience Yet? While experienced infant and toddler teachers are our first choice, we recognize that great teachers have to start somewhere. We may be willing to train an exceptional candidate who is dependable, patient, motivated to learn and truly wants to build a career working with young children.
