The Goddard School in Independence is looking for a full-time Lead Teacher to join our team. We have opportunities in classrooms serving children from infancy through preschool, and we will work to find the classroom placement that best matches your experience, strengths and preferred age group. You do not need to be interested in every age group. We want to learn where you feel most confident, which children you connect with best and where you would be most successful. Potential Classroom Opportunities Depending on experience and current school needs, the position may be in one of the following age groups:

Infants:

Approximately 6 weeks to 12 months

Older Infants/Young Toddlers:

Approximately 12 to 18 months

Young Toddlers:

Approximately 18 months to 2 years

Toddlers:

Approximately 2 to 2½ years

Older Toddlers/Early Preschool:

Approximately 2½ to young 3-year-olds who are learning to use the toilet and are not required to be fully potty trained

Preschool:

Mid to younger 3-year-olds who are newly potty trained

Older Preschool:

Older 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds Final classroom placement will be based on the candidate's experience, preferences, qualifications, schedule availability and the needs of the school. Our ideal Lead Teacher is someone who: Truly enjoys working with young children Is warm, patient and actively engaged in the classroom Is dependable and understands how important consistent attendance is to children and coworkers Communicates professionally with families and team members Can create a safe, welcoming and organized classroom Is comfortable leading routines, activities and transitions Is willing to learn and accept feedback Remains calm and positive during busy or challenging moments Understands that early childhood education includes teaching, caregiving, cleaning, documentation and teamwork Wants to build a meaningful and lasting career with young children Licensed childcare experience is strongly preferred for a Lead Teacher position. However, we are also willing to speak with candidates who have related experience and the personality, maturity and willingness to complete the training needed to become successful in the role.

Nannying Preschool or childcare assistance Camp counseling Children's recreation programs Paraprofessional work Coaching or teaching children's activities Before- or after-school programs Other positions involving regular responsibility for children Responsibilities will vary somewhat by classroom, but may include: Providing attentive and active supervision Building warm, responsive relationships with children Planning and leading developmentally appropriate learning experiences Supporting classroom routines and transitions Communicating professionally with families Maintaining a clean, safe and organized classroom Completing required classroom documentation Supporting diapering and toilet-learning routines when applicable Working cooperatively with co-teachers and school leadership Following all school, licensing, health and safety requirements Participating in required training and professional development This is an active, hands-on position. Teachers must be comfortable getting down to children's level, sitting on the floor, bending, lifting, moving throughout the classroom and responding to the daily physical needs of young children. This is a full-time, year-round position requiring approximately 35-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday . Our school is open from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. We try to be as flexible as possible when creating schedules. However, each schedule must also meet the needs of the assigned classroom and the school.

Pay:

$16.00 - $20.00 per hour
