Job Description

Assistant Director
  • Child Care Center | Brand New Premier Center Barrington School of Kingsdale (Upper Arlington) is a brand new, premier daycare center close to the new Upper Arlington Community Center.
We are looking for an Assistant Director. We maintain low student to teacher ratios, serve freshly prepared wholesome organic meals and offer many more services and amenities. We are looking for a leader who can partner with the Director and take the center to new heights. We want an Assistant Director who can grow into a Director role. Past Assistant Director experience is preferred or 2+ years as a Lead Teacher with demonstrated leadership responsibility. You can be "calm in the storm" while facing staffing and other challenges that come with the job. You bring a solutions-oriented approach, even on hard days. You have dependable attendance

Associate's degree and/or CDA preferred. Responsibilities and Duties Day to day operations Ensure a calm, well-run center where teachers can focus on kids. Make sure the daily schedule is optimized for best service without overstaffing. Make sure time entries are accurate on a daily basis. Assist the Director with interviewing candidates as necessary. Step into the classrooms for ratio as needed. Attend buzzers from classrooms for bathroom breaks and other questions. Proactively manage supply orders and vendor relationships. Compliance Our goal is to comply with all DCY rules at all times. You will have thorough knowledge of all DCY rules, OCCRRA and OCLQS systems. Conduct regular classroom inspections to make sure rules are followed. Conduct fire, tornado, and lockdown drills. Proactively prepare teachers and center for perfect DCY inspections. Ensure we are always in compliance with Columbus Public Health (Food safety) rules and Columbus Fire Safety rules. Growth Own the family experience from first inquiry to enrollment — tours, follow-up, and conversion. Manage the waitlist and re-engage past inquiries. Build community relationships in Upper Arlington, including with the new Community Center. Partner with the Director on enrollment targets. Your performance bonus is tied directly to hitting them. Financial Management Monitor staffing and timecards to manage labor cost while protecting ratios. Closely monitor food cost and other center expenses. Assist the Director with cost improvement plans. MS Word and Excel skills are needed. Relationship Management Children
  • You will be spending time in the classroom, developing personal relationships with children and conducting regular classroom and playground inspections. Parents
  • You will always be touching base with parents to address their concerns before they become problems. Teachers
  • You will develop great relationships with teachers and proactively remove roadblocks for the teachers. Owners
  • You will be an effective communicator to keep the owners informed at all times and seek out their help when necessary. Other Third Parties
  • You will also manage and communicate with a multitude of vendors, city and state agencies.
Other Requirements Ability to handle crisis situations, especially relating to children. Flexibility in work hours and assignment. Must be able to lift 40 pounds. Must pass BCI and FBI background checks as required by DCY. Ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid. Ability to see and read newsprint, with or without corrective lenses. Ability to speak and be understood under normal circumstances. Ability to use arms, hands, legs, and feet with or without corrective devices; this includes the ability to evacuate the building during emergencies. Benefits $42,000 base plus performance bonus targeting $4,000. Free child-care. A real benefit, worth up to $20,000 per year depending on your child's age. Paid time off.
