Job Description
Job Overview A Master Teacher in a Daycare setting is a professional who provides direct care, plans and implements lessons, and supports the development of children. They also mentor teachers, teacher assistants, and volunteers, ensuring adherence to best practices and Early Learning Guidelines. Master Teachers are responsible for creating a safe, stimulating, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct Care:
Supervise and monitor the safety of children, providing physical caregiving and following age-appropriate curricular plans.Instruction and Mentoring:
Plan and implement lesson plans, organize activities, and mentor other daycare staff.Developmental Support:
Facilitate supportive relationships with children, parents, and staff, and assess children's development.Classroom Environment:
Create and maintain a positive and engaging learning environment.Collaboration:
Collaborate with the director, other staff, and parents to ensure children's well-being and development.Compliance:
Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and policies related to daycare in Oklahoma.Qualifications:
Education and Training:
Master Teachers typically have relevant certifications in early childhood education or child development.Experience:
Experience working with young children in a daycare setting is often required.Skills:
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are essential.Certifications:
May be required to hold certifications such as the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or other state-specific credentials. Requirements Pass fingerprinting, background checks, and drug test. Proven experience working with children in a daycare or preschool setting. Strong classroom management skills with an emphasis on behavior management techniques. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with children, parents, and colleagues. A compassionate approach to caregiving that prioritizes the emotional and physical well-being of children. Ability to create an engaging classroom environment that promotes learning through play and exploration. Relevant certifications in early childhood education or related fields are preferred.
