Position:
Childcare Assistant Teacher FTE:
30 hours/week

Position Summary:
The Childcare Assistant Teacher is part of the Starker Forests Childcare Team and will assist with providing a safe and educational environment for young children, developmentally appropriate materials and activities and some administrative tasks. The Childcare Assistant Teacher will work under the supervision of the Lead Teacher/Provider.
Qualifications and Experience:
The Childcare Assistant Teacher will have an AA/AS in Early Childhood Education or related field, and Step 4 or higher in the Oregon Registry Online (ORO). Relevant experience can be substituted for some of the educational requirements. They will be able to demonstrate the following abilities: respond appropriate to each child's developmental levels for children 0-5 years old support children's social emotional development use Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) model and trauma informed care mindset with children and adults including guiding behavior and providing structure form positive relationships with children and adults follow childcare licensing rules participate in supervision, training and meetings work both independently and as part of a team
Responsibilities :
Childcare space and client interactions Assist in maintaining an attractive, clean, safe, and healthy environment for children both indoors and outdoors
  • Support developmentally appropriate toilet learning (potty training) and diapering
  • Assist with the supervision of children at all times including during independent play
  • Assist with monitoring of progress during stations and activities
  • Record and report accidents
  • Assist with delivery of medication when required and authorized
  • Assist to maintain all childcare spaces, including kitchen, and equipment, toys and materials
  • Sanitize and clean spaces and materials
  • Participate in team meetings and OMCCF staff meetings
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all client information.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher/Provider, including during their absence Professional Maintain a positive job attitude including positive team behavior (e.
g., willing to pitch in, problem solving attitude, positive communication style) Maintain and update required certifications (e.g., First Aid, CPR, Food Handlers) for the position. Maintain and update safe driving record and required auto liability insurance Maintain personal appearance and hygiene appropriate to the position. Report at regular working hours, be punctual and use a suitable work ethic. Write in a clear, concise manner. Participate in staff development activities and staff meetings. Follow established standards, policies, and procedures of OMCCF. Establish and maintain an ORO account and complete necessary hours of training each ORO calendar year.
