Eugene, OR and Springfield, OR Starting wage range: $19.57 - $21.05, depending upon qualifications About Relief Nursery Relief Nursery provides comprehensive family support services that are easily accessible to families who are raising children birth through five years of age and who are experiencing high levels of stress. We provide early intervention that centers on building successful and resilient children and strengthening parents. Our staff work as a team to provide a unique array of support, from therapeutic classrooms and outreach programs, to parenting education, substance use disorder recovery support and more. This position helps ensure the safety, wellbeing, and general care of children birth through nine years of age attending Relief Nursery programming. You'll use a therapeutic approach, focusing on awareness of emotions and positive social interactions. This is an ideal position for anyone interested in exploring a career path at Relief Nursery or in social services. Primary Responsibilities Provide therapeutic childcare for Relief Nursery families on site and in the community Follow USDA guidelines in basic preparation and serving of nutritious food to children Assist with classroom activity preparation and cleanup upon children's departure Complete the daily responsibilities of the Childcare Coordinator when the Childcare Coordinator is offsite, including but not limited to: Documenting the number of children attending childcare Ensuring that the classroom and kitchen are properly cleaned before leaving Securing the entry doors and ensuring the alarms system is activated upon departure Debriefing the night's events with the Childcare Coordinator Required Qualifications These are the qualifications needed to be successful in this role. Experience working with children ages birth to age nine years of age Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and guidance principles Willingness to support children and families experiencing poverty, stress, and other barriers and the ability to relate sensitively and non-judgmentally with both children and parents Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. Evidence of emotional maturity, stability, dependability and flexibility. Valid Food Handlers card or commitment to obtain prior to hire. Ability to pass a criminal background check through the Department of Early Learning and Care's Central Background Registry. Preferred Qualifications Preferred qualifications refer to job-related education or training, experience, or skills that are beneficial, but not a requirement for the position. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Physical Requirements Ability to stand or walk for most of the workday, reach overhead, reach at or below shoulder level, and regularly lift and move items like food boxes, pots, and carts up to 40 pounds. Use of hands and fingers for repetitive tasks like chopping, grasping utensils, and operating equipment.
