Job Description

Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Elementary is a private, Catholic, co-educational academy committed to quality education integrated with Gospel values. A ministry sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy and established in 1861, Gwynedd-Mercy Academy combines a long tradition of academic excellence with innovative teaching methodology and progressive technology integration to create a caring, child-centered environment. Gwynedd-Mercy Academy is seeking a PreK Aide with experience and enthusiasm for creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for our PreK students. As the PreK Aide, this person is responsible for supporting daily classroom activities, reinforcing instruction, and supporting a positive classroom environment focused on the development of students' academic, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the teacher with implementing daily classroom routines, instructional activities, and the day-to-day operations of the PreK classroom Support students individually or in small groups during circle time or learning centers, and during special area classes (Art, Music, Physical Education, Library, Technology, Spanish, etc.) Supervise students in the classroom, on the playground, during meals, in the hallways, during assemblies, etc. Promote positive social interactions and utilize best practices to support the well-being of all students Employ effective classroom management techniques to create a safe and exciting learning environment Participate in PreK family events and school-wide activities Enhance the school's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusivity, and belonging Perform supervisory duties (lunch, recess, bus line, etc.), and assist with other programmatic activities that are part of the school day Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or administration
QUALIFICATIONS
Desire to work in a Mercy-focused, Catholic school environment Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred Experience working with preschool children General knowledge of the practices, methods, and techniques used in a classroom setting Creative thinker and problem solver with strong organizational and time management skills Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to work as part of a team with faculty, parents, and students Salary commensurate with experience.
