The Lead Preschool/Pre-K Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. This individual will lead the classroom team, implement meaningful learning experiences, and support each child's social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development. Responsibilities Serve as the Lead Teacher in a Preschool/Pre-K classroom. Create a positive, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and experiences that support children's growth and learning. Follow the school's curriculum and incorporate hands-on learning, exploration, and play into the daily classroom experience. Support children's kindergarten readiness by developing early literacy, math, science, problem-solving, communication, and social-emotional skills. Encourage independence, confidence, decision-making, and self-help skills. Establish and maintain consistent classroom routines, schedules, and expectations. Provide active supervision of children at all times. Build strong, positive relationships with children and their families. Communicate regularly and professionally with families regarding their child's day, development, and classroom experiences. Lead and collaborate with the Assistant Teacher to ensure the classroom operates smoothly and consistently. Provide direction, guidance, and support to the classroom team. Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and engaging learning environment. Observe and document children's developmental progress and communicate observations with families and school leadership as appropriate. Complete classroom documentation and required daily records accurately and consistently. Follow all school policies, procedures, health and safety guidelines, and state licensing requirements. Communicate effectively with school leadership regarding classroom needs, children's development, and any concerns. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, school events, and other school activities as needed. Qualifications Previous experience working with preschool or Pre-K children required. Previous Lead Teacher experience preferred. Strong understanding of preschool and Pre-K development and age-appropriate teaching practices. Knowledge of early childhood curriculum and kindergarten readiness skills. Ability to confidently lead a classroom and classroom team. Patient, nurturing, energetic, and enthusiastic approach to working with young children. Strong communication, leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills. Reliable, dependable, and able to maintain a positive and professional attitude. Ability to work collaboratively with families, teachers, and school leadership. CDA or other early childhood education credentials required. Must meet all applicable state requirements for working in a childcare setting.
