Group Leader Norristown, PA 1 DAYS AGO 22658815 Summary Norristown, PA In-Person Competitive Salary 2 Years Experience Bachelor's degree No Commission 37.50 hours per week / Day Shift / Full-Time Description The Group Leader is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. GL must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The GL must be skilled in communicating with children, staff, parents, and NASD personnel to meet the needs of the children, effectively guide the Assistant Group Leader(s), Aide(s) and Volunteers and resolve parental concerns on a daily basis. This position reports to the Program Liaison Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
  • Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
  • Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent teacher conferences.
  • Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
  • Ensure a healthy classroom environment - including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
  • Supervise Assistant Group Leaders, Aides, and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene, and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records, forms, and files.
  • Maintain ratios and attendance at all times.
  • Rotate site assignments as needed to cover staff absences and ensure proper staff-to-child ratios are maintained for regulatory compliance and smooth program operation
  • Document incidents/accidents and highlights in Brightwheel daily.
  • Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement. (Keystone Stars) Communication Coordination
  • Managing Brightwheel o Responding to parent messages and forwarding the message to the appropriate staff person(s)
  • Answering phone calls o Forwarding messages to the appropriate staff person(s) o Providing families with instructions on how to register on our website. o Check voicemail and forward messages to the appropriate staff person(s)
  • GroupMe o Communicate with the ITAVC team daily. Additional Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional childcare experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, parents, and community) and to foster a team environment.
  • A strong understanding of child development.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills Educational Requirements A group leader shall have attained one of the following qualification levels: 1.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field. 2. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field and 1 year of experience with children. 3. An associate degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 2 years of experience with children. 4. An associate degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 3 years of experience with children. Physical Requirements
