Located in the heart of Oakland, Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children is a one-of-a-kind educational experience committed to empowering our students to realize their full potential. The School also provides vital early intervention and outreach services to visually impaired students, with or without additional challenges, throughout western Pennsylvania. Founded in 1887, our School is best equipped to care for and educate students with visual impairments. As a private institution chartered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the School educates approximately 200 enrolled students from 80-85 school districts within western Pennsylvania.Position Information:
The Preschool, Toddler, Infant ACV Teachers provides care for the children within the program. The "A Child's View" (ACV) Program is an on site child care center for our WPSBC employees of the school, as well as open to our alumni's families as well. This position would operate within the classroom setting, caring for the children and following the set curriculums to deliver a positive learning environment for its students. We are searching for Teachers working with Preschool, Toddler, and Infants.FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt Working Schedule:
Mondays - Fridays from 8:00am to 4:00pmWorking Days:

$19/hrJob Responsibilities:
The Preschool Teacher is responsible for fostering a warm, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. This includes interacting frequently, respectfully, and intentionally with each child to support their social, emotional, and cognitive development. The teacher must remain attentive and responsive to individual needs, using positive guidance techniques to build trusting relationships and encourage independence, confidence, and curiosity. The Preschool Teacher maintains a safe, healthy, and well-organized classroom environment that promotes active learning and exploration. This includes adhering to all health and safety regulations, proactively identifying and addressing potential hazards, and creating a structured yet welcoming space where children feel secure. The teacher also models and reinforces age-appropriate routines, helping children develop responsibility and self-help skills. Confidentiality is a critical component of this role. The Preschool Teacher must handle all information regarding children, families, and staff with the utmost professionalism and discretion, maintaining compliance with program policies and privacy standards while fostering trust within the school community. The Preschool Teacher is responsible for implementing curriculum as directed while designing and maintaining a consistent daily schedule that supports learning goals and developmental milestones. This requires a strong understanding of early childhood development across a range of ages and abilities. The teacher must differentiate instruction and adapt activities to meet the diverse sensory, cognitive, and physical needs of all learners, ensuring an inclusive classroom where every child has the opportunity to participate, grow, and succeed.An Equal Opportunity Employer Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent 2 years of direct child care experience Associate's Degree in Early Childhood education, Child Development, or Elementary Education is strongly preferred Willingness to obtain clearances for Acts 34, 114, 151, in addition to NSO and Mandated Reporter Credentials Physical Demands /Work Requirements:
The following physical demands are typical for a role in this setting: Ability to help lift and/or position students when necessary. Must be comfortable with lifting up to 50 pounds from the floor. Ability to lift and carry objects such as equipment, books, stacks of reports, etc, generally items weighing 20 pounds or less. Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, crouching, stooping, kneeling, crawling, sitting, and walking including up and down stairs. Pushing wheelchairs, moving/sliding student equipment. Ability to work in a hot humid environment in therapy pool area and outdoors during student activities and morning and afternoon transportation as needed. Communicate respectfully with multiple team members. Perform maintenance and upkeep of educational areas and therapy areas (i.e. OT/PT gym, clinic room, storage rooms). Assist with student enrichment groups and adapted sports programming as assigned. Ability to read and attend to computer screens. Manual dexterity skills for typing and use of various equipment.
