Job Description
The Goddard School located in Indian Land, SC is looking for a motivated self-starter for an Assistant Director's position at The Goddard School. A CDA, bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field, and management experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool is required. A candidate must have strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, and have a good understanding of age-appropriate activities for young children. ADMINISTRATIVE
Maintain compliance with GSI's standards; Maintain accurate records, such as children's and faculty member's files, to meet both the state's and GSI's requirements Manage classroom scheduling and schedule faculty members; Review the employee handbook annually Conduct emergency drills, such as fire, tornado and intruder drills, in accordance with GSI's standards and state licensing requirementsLICENSING
Maintain the current licensing documentation; Comply with all current licensing regulations.PERSONNEL
Assist in recruiting, interview, hire and manage faculty members; Manage faculty members' schedules; Conduct the faculty orientation; Complete 90-day and annual faculty reviews; Assist in conducting monthly faculty meetings Maintain accurate faculty files; Assist in planning and implementing in-service meetings for faculty members twice a year;PROGRAM SUPPORT & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Conduct classroom observations; Keep abreast of research and development in the field of early childhood development; Conduct classroom ratio checks throughout the day; Implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum using Goddard's Wonder of Learning curriculum Incorporate GSI curriculum resources; Plan and implement a year-round calendar; Schedule shared classroom and outdoor space and equipment; Plan and implement procedures for maintaining accurate classroom records; Provide the faculty with assistance in preparing lesson plans and developing themes; Review the lesson plans; Review the Daily Activity Reports; Review children's portfolios regularly; Ensure that each classroom has an effective management system in place; Develop and implement a transition system; Implement a playground safety program In addition to the above, this role will also be expected to:- Interact closely with children at all levels;
- Supervise children with sight and hearing at all times;
- Change children's diapers or assist in toileting where necessary;
- Understand and comply with the franchisee's employment policies;
- Communicate effectively and professionally with school personnel, children and parents;
- Handle crisis situations, including assisting in evacuating the building during emergencies;
- Comply in all respects with all applicable laws and regulations relating to childcare
Qualifications:
- BA or BS Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education or related field
- Prior Managerial Experience in a Licensed Preschool setting
- Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
