St. Mark's Preschool is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Preschool Teacher to join our team. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about working with young children and committed to creating a safe, nurturing, Christ-centered environment where every child can learn, grow, and thrive. The Preschool Teacher works under the direction of the Preschool Director and collaborates with the Assistant Director and teaching staff to provide high-quality, developmentally appropriate learning experiences for children while supporting the Christian values and mission of St. Mark's United Methodist Church . What You'll Do Create and implement engaging, play-based, child-centered lesson plans aligned with the Tennessee Early Learning Developmental Standards (TN-ELDS) . Provide a warm, nurturing classroom environment that supports children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Build positive, responsive relationships with children and encourage appropriate behavior and self-regulation. Maintain active and consistent supervision of all children throughout the day, including intentional positioning and continuous visual awareness. Communicate professionally and positively with parents regarding classroom activities, children's development, behavior, and special events. Maintain accurate attendance records, incident reports, classroom documentation, and other required records. Prepare and maintain a clean, organized, welcoming classroom and ensure materials and equipment are properly cared for. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, parent conferences, and preschool events. Follow all applicable Tennessee child care licensing requirements , TN-ELDS guidelines, preschool policies, and NAEYC ethical standards. Complete required annual professional development and health and safety training. Work collaboratively with the Director and preschool team to support the needs of children and families. Support and reflect the Christian values, mission, and vision of St. Mark's United Methodist Church . Successful completion of required background checks and health screenings. Willingness to complete required annual training, including health and safety, child abuse recognition and reporting, literacy, and TN-ELDS-related training. Commitment to following St. Mark's Preschool policies and procedures and applicable state regulations. Previous experience working with preschool-age children is preferred.
