We are seeking our next Part-Time Child Care Classroom Support Assistant for our HAGY Center for Young Children who will be all-in on our mission and who plays a vital role in creating a nurturing, safe, and engaging environment for young children. This position supports daily classroom activities, fosters positive relationships with children and families, and helps ensure compliance with health, safety, and educational standards. This role contributes directly to the growth and development of children while supporting the overall success of the child care program. Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required:
High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred:
Some College coursework in a related field.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
One (1) year of experience working in the Early Childhood profession.
Preferred:
Two (2) years of experience working in the Early Childhood profession.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
Preferred:
Food Safe Manager, CPR and First Aid.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Clear background history. Complete 38 clock hours of training each year. In accordance with Texas state law and licensing rules of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, persons employed in this position will be subject to a Child Care Criminal History Check (TDPRS Form 2971), FBI Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis test. Job Duties & Responsibilities Foster positive, nurturing relationships with children, families, and staff to create a welcoming and inclusive environment. Provide conscious discipline and positive guidance, using strategies that promote self-regulation, respect, and positive social interactions among children. Support classroom instruction and assist the Early Learning Teacher with daily activities Answer and route phone calls appropriately. Uphold health and safety standards, including routine classroom sanitation Assist with administrative tasks such as record-keeping and classroom organization Support curriculum delivery through preparation of materials and assisting with both short- and long-term activities. Ensure a safe and secure environment for children during all activities, promoting health and safety in both work and play. Maintain an organized and sanitized classroom by adhering to established health and safety codes, helping prevent the spread of illness, and safeguarding children's well-being. Welcome and assist visitors, families, and students professionally, ensuring a friendly and respectful atmosphere. Help with classroom maintenance tasks, such as laundry and light cleaning, to maintain a tidy, organized learning environment. Safely lift, hold, and carry children as needed to provide attentive, responsive care, ensuring their physical comfort and security in accordance with best practices for child handling. Perform other work-related duties as required. Salary:
Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position. Pay grade 3 Amarillo College Pay Grades (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).
Work Conditions:
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays and varying events as necessary.) Timely and regular attendance for all employees is required to ensure adequate staffing and to meet expected productivity standards throughout the organization.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office, cleaning, and teaching supplies as needed. Employee will be required to lift children, change diapers, and assist with other physical caregiving tasks as needed.
