  General Position Description
  The Spanish Preschool Teacher works to ensure an environment where preschoolers feel safe and where their needs and wants are responded to in a caring and consistent manner. This role plans and implements activities that promote the physical and emotional development of preschoolers in Spanish. Duties
  
• a developmentally appropriate program in line with the goals and philosophy of De Colores Child Development Center, LLC.
  
• Teach and interact with children in the Spanish language, exposing them to songs, finger plays, music, and dance in Spanish.
  
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans, ensuring needed materials and supplies are available in advance.
  
• Engage children in a playful learning environment both indoors and outdoors (outdoor playtime consists of two scheduled 45-minute periods each day).
  
• Ensure the classroom is organized and stimulating, with age-appropriate print, displays, and activities available to children at all times.
  
• Interact with parents daily, regularly reporting positive observations of each child.
  
• Maintain a safe and clean environment inside and outside the classroom in compliance with Texas Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers and current De Colores policies (including taking out the trash; sanitizing tables, counters, bathrooms, and toys; and organizing drawers, cabinets, and shelves).
  
• Lead mealtime activities, model good manners, and assist children with personal hygiene, including diaper changing.
  
• Conduct individual assessments for students and maintain individual portfolios to support these findings.
  
• Help in other areas of the center as needed.
  
• Prepare crafts and activities for, and participate in, special events and celebrations such as Easter and Día de los Muertos, among others.
  
• Attend staff meetings, training events, and workshops during non-business hours, and maintain the required level of training hours with proper documentation.
  
• Implement the curriculum using Teaching Strategies.
  
• Use a computer and tablet for daily documentation.
  Skills and Education
  
• High School Diploma or GED.
  Must have a CDA or an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood.
  
• Must be bilingual and able to read, write, and speak in both English and Spanish.
  
• Childcare experience preferred.
  
• Must have current and up-to-date childcare training certificates submitted.
  
• Must have a CPR/First Aid certification.
  
• Must have a Food Handlers Card.
  
• Must be able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
