Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Childcare Assistant Director - Hands-On Leadership to join our vibrant early childhood education team. This pivotal role combines strategic oversight with active, hands-on involvement in daily operations, ensuring a nurturing, compliant, and innovative environment for young learners. As a key leader, you will inspire staff, foster professional growth, and uphold the highest standards of childhood development and educational excellence. Your leadership will directly impact the quality of care and education provided, creating a positive, engaging atmosphere where children thrive and families feel confident. We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and hands-on Assistant Director to join our leadership team. This is not an office-only position . Our Assistant Director must be willing to lead from the floor, step into classrooms, support teachers, assist families, help with enrollment, and provide transportation when needed.

Applicants must: Have a current Texas Child-Care Center Director's Certificate/credential Have a valid Texas Driver's License Be willing and able to safely drive a 15-passenger van Be willing to transport children ages 3-12 Be willing to work directly in classrooms as needed Be willing to work a flexible schedule Responsibilities As the Assistant Director, Responsibilities include: Assist with daily center operations and leadership Step into classrooms and work directly with children when needed Cover classrooms during breaks, lunches, staff call-outs, and staffing shortages Assist with maintaining required child-to-caregiver ratios Work with infants, toddlers, preschool, Pre-K, and school-age children Support teachers with classroom management and daily routines Monitor classrooms for safety, cleanliness, organization, supervision, and quality Assist with staff schedules and classroom assignments Coach, support, and hold employees accountable Assist with Texas childcare licensing and compliance requirements Help maintain accurate child and employee records Welcome families and provide excellent customer service Conduct center tours for prospective families Follow up with prospective families and assist with enrollment Assist with new-family orientation Support family retention and parent communication Participate in community outreach and center marketing Assist with opening and closing responsibilities Address parent and staff concerns professionally Assist with morning and afternoon transportation when needed Safely load, unload, account for, and supervise children during transportation Follow all transportation attendance and safety procedures Take leadership responsibility when the Center Director is unavailable Qualifications & Requirements Current Texas Child-Care Center Director's Certificate/credential

High school diploma or GED required Previous childcare experience required Childcare leadership or management experience preferred Valid Texas Driver's License

Must have an acceptable driving record Must be willing and able to drive a 15-passenger childcare van Must be willing to transport children ages 3-12 Must meet all required background-check requirements Must be comfortable working directly with children of different ages Must be dependable with strong attendance Must demonstrate professionalism and good judgment Duties Lead and supervise childcare staff, including teachers and support personnel, fostering a collaborative team environment focused on excellence in early childhood education. Develop and implement engaging curriculum plans aligned with best practices in childhood development and educational standards. Oversee daily classroom activities to ensure they meet safety, developmental, and educational goals while maintaining compliance with licensing regulations. Facilitate ongoing professional development opportunities for staff to enhance instructional skills and promote continuous improvement. Manage administrative functions such as budgeting, resource allocation, and maintaining accurate records of attendance, assessments, and compliance documentation. Lead fundraising initiatives and community outreach efforts to support program growth and sustainability. Ensure adherence to all legal requirements related to early childhood education, special education law, and educational regulations. Participate actively in strategic planning sessions to set long-term goals for the program's success and growth. Conduct faculty evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and support personnel management efforts to cultivate high-performing teams. Represent the organization at community events, public speaking engagements, and stakeholder meetings to promote our mission and programs. Requirements Proven experience in school administrative leadership or as a school director within early childhood or K-12 settings. Strong background in curriculum development, instructional leadership in education, and classroom experience working directly with children. Demonstrated expertise in managing budgets as an executive education administrator along with financial planning skills such as budgeting and fundraising. Extensive knowledge of educational compliance, regulation standards—including childhood development laws—and legal considerations specific to early childhood education. Management experience supervising school staff, facilitating professional development, evaluating faculty performance, and leading teams effectively. Familiarity with special education law and inclusive practices for children with diverse needs. Excellent communication skills suitable for public speaking, team leadership, and community engagement. Ability to navigate school legal frameworks confidently while ensuring operational excellence across all program facets. Passion for early childhood education combined with strategic thinking to drive program success while maintaining a nurturing environment. Pay:
$16.50 - $18.50 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 - 40.0 per week
