Church Nursery Staff Childcare Teacher - Part-Time First United Methodist Church Pearland is seeking a caring, dependable, and energetic Nursery Staff to help provide a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment for young children during Sunday worship services and other church activities. Our nursery is often one of a family's first experiences with our church, so we're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children and can help parents feel confident that their little ones are safe, cared for, and loved while in our care. Job Responsibilities Provide attentive, loving care for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. Create a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for children and families. Engage children through age-appropriate play, activities, stories, and interaction. Assist with diaper changes, bathroom needs, snacks, bottles, and other basic care as needed. Comfort children who are upset and communicate appropriately with parents when needed. Follow all church safety, check-in/check-out, and Safe Sanctuary policies and procedures. Keep nursery rooms, toys, and supplies clean, sanitized, and organized. Work cooperatively with other nursery staff, volunteers, and Children's Ministry leadership. Qualifications Must be dependable, punctual, responsible, and able to work consistently on Sunday mornings. Experience working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, or elementary-aged children is preferred. Must be comfortable caring for multiple young children in a group setting. Friendly and professional when interacting with children, parents, volunteers, and church staff. Able to remain patient and calm in a busy childcare environment. Willing to follow the policies, procedures, and ministry standards of First United Methodist Church Pearland. Must successfully complete required background screening and Safe Sanctuary training. CPR/First Aid certification is preferred or willingness to obtain certification. Must meet the church's minimum age requirements for paid childcare staff. Schedule This is a part-time position, primarily working Sunday mornings, with the opportunity for additional hours during church programs, special events, Bible studies, Parent's Night Out events, and other Children's Ministry activities. Specific Sunday hours and additional scheduling expectations will be discussed during the interview process. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who truly enjoys working with children and understands that nursery ministry is about more than simply supervising a room. We want our youngest children to experience church as a place where they are known, cared for, and excited to return.
