100% open availability, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays About Barking Oaks Pet Resort Barking Oaks Pet Resort provides boarding, daycare, grooming, training, enrichment, and personalized pet care. Our team works together to maintain a safe, clean, organized, and professional environment for every pet and customer. Providing exceptional pet care requires more than an interest in animals. It requires reliability, attention to detail, physical stamina, sound judgment, effective communication, teamwork, and the ability to follow established procedures consistently. Position Overview The Team Member position is a full-time, cross-trained operational role that combines responsibilities across three core areas of the resort: Resort Representative Kennel Technician Daycare Attendant Team Members are not hired into one permanent department. Employees in this position are trained to perform responsibilities in all three areas and may be assigned wherever operational needs require. Department assignments may vary by day and may also change during the same shift based on occupancy, staffing levels, customer activity, and animal-care needs. The purpose of the Team Member position is to develop employees who understand the complete daily operation of the resort and can provide reliable support across multiple departments. This is a hands-on, fast-paced position requiring employees to remain active, manage changing priorities, work around continuous animal activity, interact professionally with customers, and complete cleaning and pet-care responsibilities throughout the shift. Core ResponsibilitiesResort Representative / Front Desk When assigned to customer-service operations, responsibilities may include: Greeting customers and pets in a professional manner Completing accurate check-ins and check-outs Answering phone calls, messages, emails, and customer questions Reviewing reservations, vaccination records, feeding instructions, medications, services, and care notes Processing payments and maintaining accurate customer records Communicating customer instructions to the appropriate department Recommending appropriate services and add-ons Maintaining a clean, organized, and professional front-desk environment Addressing customer concerns appropriately and involving management when necessary Kennel Technician / Boarding Operations When assigned to boarding operations, responsibilities may include: Completing scheduled feedings, medications, potty breaks, walks, outings, and enrichment Following individual pet-care instructions accurately Monitoring appetite, behavior, energy level, bathroom habits, and physical condition Reporting illness, injury, unusual behavior, or safety concerns immediately Cleaning and sanitizing kennels, rooms, bowls, bedding, yards, equipment, and common areas Completing laundry, dishes, food preparation, and general facility-cleaning duties Maintaining secure doors, gates, leashes, and kennel areas Maintaining accurate care records and completing assigned checklists Daycare Operations When assigned to daycare, responsibilities may include: Actively supervising groups of dogs Monitoring body language, energy level, play style, and group behavior Identifying and redirecting unsafe behavior Separating dogs safely when necessary Completing daycare rotations, rest periods, water changes, enrichment activities, and cleaning Maintaining clean and safe playrooms, yards, pools, and equipment Reporting behavioral, medical, or safety concerns immediately Taking photographs and providing customer updates when assigned Team Member Standards Regardless of department assignment, all Team Members are expected to: Maintain animal safety and proper care as the highest priority Follow written instructions, schedules, checklists, and company procedures Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the facility Recognize and complete necessary tasks without constant direction Remain productive throughout the shift Communicate important information accurately between departments Complete assigned responsibilities fully and accurately Transition between departments without compromising safety, cleanliness, accuracy, or customer service Remain calm and professional during busy, loud, stressful, or unexpected situations Accept coaching and make necessary corrections promptly Assist other departments when operational needs require Maintain professional standards whether or not management is directly present Cleaning and sanitation are essential responsibilities of this position and are expected in every department.
Qualifications Applicants must:
Be dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented Be comfortable working with both animals and customers Be willing and able to work across all three areas of the Team Member position Communicate professionally and follow instructions accurately Work effectively both independently and as part of a team Manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment Be comfortable using computers, phones, scheduling software, and digital checklists Be willing to perform cleaning and physical work throughout each shift Adapt to changing department assignments and operational priorities Successfully complete required training in resort reception, kennel care, and daycare operations Previous experience in pet care, boarding, daycare, veterinary services, grooming, hospitality, or customer service is preferred but not required. Physical Requirements Employees must be able to: Stand and walk for extended periods Frequently bend, kneel, squat, reach, lift, and perform repetitive movements Safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds Handle dogs of different sizes, strengths, temperaments, and energy levels Work around barking, pet hair, pet waste, water, odors, and cleaning products Work both indoors and outdoors in changing weather conditions React quickly and appropriately during animal-handling or emergency situations Perform cleaning and sanitation duties throughout the shift Schedule and Availability This is a full-time position requiring 100% open availability, 24 hours a day, seven days a week .

Early-morning shifts Day shifts Evening shifts Overnight shifts Weekends Holidays Changing schedules Additional coverage based on occupancy, staffing, emergencies, and animal-care needs Open availability does not mean an employee will work 24 hours in one day. It means employees must be available to work any assigned shift based on the operational needs of Barking Oaks Pet Resort. Because animal care continues every day of the year, reliable attendance and scheduling flexibility are essential. Compensation Full-Time — $15.00 per hour Understanding the Position Applicants should understand that Team Member is the position being hired for . Resort Representative, Kennel Technician, and Daycare Attendant are the three primary operational areas in which Team Members are trained and assigned. This is not a position limited to one department. Team Members are expected to develop proficiency across all three areas and work where needed based on daily resort operations. What Success Looks Like Successful Team Members are dependable, observant, adaptable, organized, physically active, and calm under pressure. They are capable of moving between customer service, boarding operations, daycare supervision, cleaning, and animal-care responsibilities while consistently maintaining Barking Oaks Pet Resort's standards for safety, cleanliness, accuracy, and customer service.
