Job Summary Love being outdoors? Join our team and inspire young children through nature-based learning! We're looking for a passionate, energetic Lead Teacher to guide a class of 3-5-year-olds in a fully outdoor preschool held at local public parks. Our program runs Monday through Thursday, 9:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m., from September through May. With a maximum of 10 children per class and a 1:5 teacher-to-child ratio, you'll work alongside another lead teacher to create meaningful outdoor learning experiences where children can explore, discover, and grow. Responsibilities Class Management Encourage the physical, emotional, and intellectual growth of a class of 10 preschool students (ages 3-5) that functions entirely outside year round. Adhere to ratios of one teacher to five students (maximum of 2 teachers per class). Implement safety measures as trained upon hire by Evergreen Nature School. Administer any first aid and keep records of all injuries. Guide and redirect any harmful behaviors. Lesson Prep Maintain, store, and transport classroom materials that are provided by Evergreen Nature School. Prepare and implement nature based lessons each day. Lesson plans and materials are provided by the school and include daily songs, movement, books, and activities. Dedicate 2 hours outside of class time for lesson preparation. Communication Effectively communicate with fellow teachers and Director, including weekly check-ins via phone or video call. Send parents a weekly message updating them on curriculum. Communicate with students' parents as needed during weekdays 8am - 5pm. Qualifications Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (2 yrs) in a child development, child education, or related field. First Aid & CPR certification. This can be obtained/renewed upon hire and will be reimbursed by Evergreen Nature School. Knowledge and experience in outdoor safety practices, including guidelines for staying warm during the cold months. (This can be professional or personal experience, and more training is provided upon hire. Please be aware that Winters can be uncomfortable and employees often purchase additional clothing to reach optimum comfort) Skills & Abilities Able and willing to obtain a background check. Be able to stand, bend, stoop, walk and lift children and supplies up to 40 pounds on varying terrains for prolonged periods of time. Positive attitude and an ability to bring curriculum to life in an outdoor classroom setting! Employment Details Schedule Depending on location, classes may be held 2 to 5 days a week for 2.5 hours each day. (Typically 9:30am-12:00pm) Arrive 15 minutes before class and stay 15 minutes after to help with setup & clean-up. Attend weekly staff check-ins (virtual) and training opportunities as provided and scheduled (virtual & in person). Starting pay between $13 - $17/hour depending on experience.
