A Preschool or Childcare Teacher works with young children, usually ages 3 - 5, to help them learn the social, motor and language skills needed to be ready for kindergarten and elementary school. We are looking for an incredible early childhood dance teacher to join the Utah Dance House team and teach our Tiny Stars and Twinkle Stars dancers. This isn't a position for someone who simply knows how to dance or teach dance. We're looking for someone who genuinely loves little kids. Someone who can get down on the floor with a 2-year-old, turn a simple movement into a magical adventure, make a shy child feel comfortable, celebrate the tiniest accomplishments, and keep a room full of preschoolers engaged and excited. About the Classes Tiny Stars | 18 Months-3 Years 30-minute Parent & Me class Parents participate alongside their children during class. The teacher creates a fun, structured, imaginative experience that introduces young children to movement, social skills, music, rhythm, coordination, and the joy of dance. The goal isn't perfection, it's helping little dancers feel safe, successful, excited, and proud. Twinkle Stars | 3-5 Years 50-minute dance class (Ballet/Tap & Ballet/Jazz) Twinkle Stars begins introducing more foundational dance skills, while continuing to emphasize creativity, imagination, musicality, coordination, confidence, and having FUN. We want a great teacher who knows how to teach a skill and make it feel magical! What You'll DoTeach Incredible Classes Prepare and teach age-appropriate Tiny Stars and Twinkle Stars classes. Create a fun, safe, welcoming, and engaging classroom environment. Use imagination, storytelling, games, creative movement, music, and props when appropriate. Help children build foundational dance skills, coordination, musicality, and confidence. Adapt your teaching to the needs and energy of the children in front of you. Celebrate effort, progress, participation, and individual accomplishments. Help every child feel seen and valued. Prepare and teach dances for recital. You will be expected to:
Follow the skills, concepts, and goals outlined in the curriculum. Come prepared for each class. Maintain the structure and expectations of the program. Add your own personality, creativity, and teaching style within the framework. Be receptive to feedback and willing to adjust when needed. We want a teacher who understands the goals and can bring the curriculum to life. Be the Face of Utah Dance House in the Classroom Our teachers are an important part of the experience families have at our studio. While our administrative team handles phone calls, texts, and other behind-the-scenes communication, our teachers are responsible for all in-person interactions with families.
This includes:
Greeting parents and students warmly. Getting to know families. Welcoming new and returning students. Helping trial students feel comfortable and excited. Answering basic questions when appropriate. Providing positive feedback to parents at pickup. Sharing appropriate observations about their child's experience. Creating a warm and professional first impression for new families. Knowing when a question or concern needs to be passed along to another member of the team. We want parents to feel and know their child is known, cared for, and in wonderful hands. Get to Know Your Students One of our expectations is that our teachers genuinely get to know the dancers in their classes.
You will be expected to:
Learn students' names quickly. Notice their personalities and interests. Understand who may need extra encouragement. Celebrate individual progress. Build positive relationships with students. Notice when something seems different or concerning. Help children feel like they belong. We want our teachers to know more than "Emma is in my Tuesday class." We want you to know "Emma loves butterflies, she was nervous her first week, and today she finally danced in the middle of the circle." Those little things matter. Photos & Daily Reports Being a Utah Dance House teacher includes a few responsibilities outside of actually teaching class. You'll be expected to: Take a Few Quick Class Photos Photos may be used to: Celebrate students with their parents. Share special holiday moments. Document student progress. Help families see what their children are doing in class. Occasionally share on Utah Dance House social media. Complete Brief Daily Reports After classes, you'll provide quick notes about things such as: Attendance Student progress Behavior or classroom concerns Parent communication Notable student moments Anything the Utah Dance House team should know These aren't meant to be lengthy reports. We simply want our team to stay informed and work as a cohesive unit making sure important details don't get lost. Be Part of the Team We don't expect teachers to work independently in their own little bubble. You'll be part of the Utah Dance House team and will be expected to: Attend staff meetings (approximately 1 a month, paid an admin rate) Participate in training and team-building activities. Learn and use our studio software and systems. Communicate effectively with other staff members. Be open to feedback. Be growth-minded and adaptable. Support your fellow teachers. Follow studio policies and procedures. Be responsible, organized, punctual, and dependable. Help with end of year Dress rehearsal and Recital Who We're Looking ForFirst and foremost: Someone AMAZING With Little Kids This is our biggest priority. You should genuinely enjoy working with toddlers and preschoolers.

Dance Experience Ideally, our teacher will have both : 1. A strong ability to connect with young children AND 2. Dance training and/or dance teaching experience. Previous dance teaching experience is strongly preferred. However, we are willing to consider someone with less formal dance-teaching experience if they demonstrate an exceptional ability to work with young children and have a willingness to learn and teach the dance curriciulum. The right person matters more to us than checking every box on a résumé. Creative & Imaginative You know how to turn: "Let's practice skipping." into: "We're going on a magical adventure! Can you skip through the forest without waking the sleeping dragon?" You understand that imagination isn't just entertainment for young children—it's a teaching tool. While the initial commitment is for the 2026-2027 season, our ideal candidate is someone who would like to become a long-term member of the Utah Dance House team if it's a great fit for both of us.
