Position Summary The Assistant Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, Christ-centered, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment where children can grow academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Responsibilities

• Foster a classroom environment that promotes learning through exploration, creativity, and play.
• Maintain a classroom that is safe, clean, organized, and welcoming.
• Provide attentive supervision of children at all times.
• Maintain positive classroom management using appropriate guidance techniques.
• Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of every child.
• Follow all emergency procedures, health protocols, and child protection policies.
• Build trusting, respectful relationships with families.
• Communicate regularly regarding children's progress, behavior, and developmental milestones.
• Respond professionally to family questions and concerns.
• Maintain compliance with all state licensing regulations and childcare center policies.
• Participate in required professional development.
• Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and special events.
• Assist with center-wide activities and family events.
• Support the mission and values of First Baptist Church and childcare center. Qualifications
• Minimum of one year of experience teaching young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting preferred.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
• Ability to pass all required background checks and Virginia licensing requirements.

Pay:

$15.00 - $18.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 - 40.0 per week
