Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Sunday morning Nursery Attendants are an integral part of our church life at St. John's. They provide activity and care for children four and under during Sunday School classes and Worship. We are seeking a Sunday morning nursery attendant who has previous childcare experience and a desire to care for our youngest parishioners.
JOB EXPECTATIONS
Arrive at 9:15a to open nursery Provide childcare during Sunday School hour (9:20a-10:20a), usually 1-5 children Provide childcare during Worship (10:20a-11:45a), usually 4-16 children Take attendance and parent's contact information at drop-off Close nursery (wipe down surfaces, put toys and books away, turn off lights, notify staff if any extra cleaning is needed) Check in monthly with Church staff (Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministries or Associate Rector for Formation) to review any concerns and upcoming month's scheduling Nursery is open year-round on Sunday mornings, with limited hours in the summer (June-August, 10:15-11:45), and open for special services on occasion. Workers are expected to work weekly, though we are flexible with absences planned three weeks ahead of time, sickness, and emergencies. Nursery workers must take Safe Church, Safe Communities training online (2.5 hour training) prior to starting with us!
BENEFITS
Compensation:
$15 dollars per hour. Nursery workers are guaranteed 2.5 hours per week (9:15a-11:45a), even if children do not show up. Nursery Attendants are invited to enjoy a complimentary St. John's breakfast in Magill Hall, beginning at 9:00am, September-May.
The successful applicant must:
Pass a background check Provide one reference if not already known to St. John's Demonstrate some previous experience with children and youth
