Our teachers are the heart of our mission—offering joyful instruction, compassionate care, and hope for every family we serve. Position Summary The Preschool Teacher creates a safe, developmentally appropriate, faith-based classroom where children can learn, explore, and thrive. Teachers plan and implement daily lessons, model Christlike character, support children's social-emotional growth, and partner with families to ensure a positive preschool experience. Duties Plan and implement age-appropriate lessons that support growth in spiritual, social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. Foster a positive classroom environment through effective behavior management and classroom management strategies that encourage independence and respect. Develop and adapt curriculum to meet the diverse needs of children, including those requiring special education. Integrate simple Bible stories, Scripture, prayer, and worship moments into daily activities. Support children's social-emotional growth by promoting positive behavior, conflict resolution skills, and emotional regulation techniques. Collaborate with parents and caregivers through regular communication to share progress, discuss developmental milestones, and address individual needs. Conduct assessments to monitor developmental progress and inform instructional strategies. Supervise and mentor assistant teachers, ensuring high-quality childcare practices and adherence to safety protocols. Experience Must be 18 years of age. Proven classroom experience working with preschool-aged children in early childhood education settings. Knowledge of childhood development principles, behavior management techniques, and classroom management best practices. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, staff, and community partners. Demonstrated ability to create an inclusive learning environment that supports diversity and promotes child welfare. A heart for ministry and a commitment to sharing Christ's love with children and families. Ability to manage a classroom with patience, joy, and consistency. Physically able to lift 30 pounds, sit on the floor, bend, stand, and move throughout the day. CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain certification upon hire — training provided) Must pass all required background checks/fingerprinting as required by the state of Virginia. •
