We're opening a brand-new Safari Kid center in Bothell, WA this fall, and we're looking for an experienced, preschool teacher to help positively shape our student's formative years. Position Summary The Teacher is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate program for young children, in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, including all the requirements of the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF). Prerequisites/Required Trainings/Minimum Qualifications The Teacher must meet the following prerequisites to work in a Washington licensed early learning program. All staff and volunteers with access to children are subject to a background check as a condition of employment. Be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Have a high school diploma or equivalent. Required DCYF background clearance Provide evidence of a current, negative tuberculosis (TB) test, kept on file. Child Care Basics required Merit qualifications/certificates must be verified in DCFY's electronic workforce registry Basic/Standard First Aid and CPR required Bloodborne Pathogen required ECE initial certificate 12 ECE credits, or DCYF- approved equivalent 10 hours of annual in-service training when applicable Staff who do not yet hold the certificate may be hired and work toward it within the allowed timeframe, with a documented professional-development plan. An infant/toddler teacher must also complete the health-and-safety and any specialization training applicable to caring for infants and toddlers. Key Responsibilities Follow and implement predeveloped lesson plans Provide snacks and water to children, meeting nutrition and food-safety standards and accommodating documented allergies and dietary needs. Maintaining a clean, healthy, stimulating environment for the children to learn Be familiar with and able to carry out the program's Emergency & Disaster Plan and procedures. Ensure children are actively always supervised and that required staff-to-child ratios and group sizes are maintained. Build children's self-esteem and comfort children as needed. Establish routines and provide positive, developmentally appropriate guidance. Provide a safe, secure environment in which children feel comfortable. Communicate clearly and effectively in ways children understand, respecting their home language. Observe children and document their progress. Include children with special needs in a positive and respectful manner, following individual care plans. Discuss identified concerns and needs with appropriate professionals, with proper consent. Develop and maintain current, accurate, and confidential child and family records, stored securely. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities The applicant must have proficient knowledge of:

Working ConditionsPhysical demands Caring for children can be physically demanding. The Teacher may lift and carry children and equipment and may spend time sitting on the floor or on child-sized furniture. The Teacher is expected to clean and maintain classroom environment welcoming.
