Job Description

Extended Care Assistants for the Grades and Early Childhood Hearthcare Programs - School Year 2025-26 The Olympia Waldorf School (OWS) is seeking experienced care professionals for our Extended Care program, which includes all childcare provided by OWS outside our regular school hours. Service times may include before and after school, during scheduled meetings, during scheduled annual breaks, and at summer camp. With the range of days and times that Extended Care is offered, we also have a range of days and times for which we are hiring; specific details on scheduling are shared during the interview process. Extended Care employees are typically hired part-time with 5 to 25 hours scheduled per week; more hours may be available for qualified candidates desiring more full-time employment.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
The Extended Care staff is responsible for the safety, well-being, and nurturing of students during non-school hours; Staff may also provide a light meal/snack as part of their regular duties. All employees are encouraged to engage children with respect, curiosity, and in a manner consistent with Waldorf teachings. An ideal candidate is knowledgeable about providing safe and effective childcare; experience with Waldorf pedagogical methods is a plus. OWS would like to fill this role as needed throughout the 2025-2026 school year with employment and training commencing at that time. This position may be open throughout the year as staff is needed. Extended Care employees must complete state mandated background checks, current training certificates for First Aid/CPR, and have a valid food handlers permit as part of their training before they can be fully onboarded with
OWS. OWS
may provide reimbursement for costs associated with required documentation.
Compensation:
Compensation begins at $16.66/hour with incremental pay increases offered for relevant experience. Extended Care Assistants may receive the benefit of a percentage of remission on Extended Care costs for their enrolled student when they are scheduled to work.
