Whispering Willows Academy is seeking a dependable, energetic, and engaging Classroom Float / Break Support Teacher to become an essential part of our daily team. This is one of our most needed positions and is vital to keeping our center running smoothly while helping prevent teacher exhaustion and burnout. The typical schedule is approximately 9:00/9:15 AM-5:30 PM . What You'll Do Provide AM and PM breaks and 30-minute lunches for teachers Step into classrooms and confidently take over while teachers are away Work with all age groups , from infants through preschool Follow classroom routines and instructions provided by Lead and Assistant Teachers Actively engage, play, read, and interact with children—not simply sit and supervise Support diapering, feeding, transitions, and other caregiving needs Communicate effectively with teachers and the other staff member assisting with breaks Use our break-tracking app to keep coverage organized and efficient Help monitor the secure building entrance and let approved families into the building during the afternoon Jump into classrooms wherever support is needed We Are Looking For Someone Who Is Warm, friendly, patient, and team-oriented Comfortable working with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers Flexible and able to move quickly between classrooms Confident managing a classroom independently during teacher breaks Comfortable changing diapers and handling hands-on caregiving Engaging and genuinely enjoys interacting with children Organized and efficient in a fast-paced environment Able to take direction and maintain each classroom's established routines A strong communicator and dependable team member This is not a "sit and supervise" position. When you enter a classroom, you are an active member of that teaching team. We need someone who will keep children engaged, maintain the classroom, respond to their needs, and ensure the room does not spiral into chaos while the regular teacher is away. If you are not comfortable doing this in the classroom, then this is not the position for you. Washington State / DCYF Requirements Candidates must meet applicable DCYF requirements, including required background clearance, fingerprinting when applicable, TB documentation, First Aid/CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens, Safe Sleep, Mandated Reporter, Child Care Basics, and other required health and safety training.
