In person About SheWorks SheWorks is a coworking and childcare community designed to support working women, parents, and families through a more thoughtful, integrated approach to work and care. Our childcare program provides high-quality, half-day care for children ages 2.5-6 in an environment that feels calm, engaging, and developmentally appropriate. Children attend morning or afternoon sessions, allowing us to create a relationship-focused experience centered around play, creativity, connection, and consistency. We want children to feel safe and seen, parents to feel supported, and our teachers to feel empowered to bring their strengths and ideas into the classroom. Position Overview We are looking for an experienced, thoughtful Early Childhood Teacher to join our growing childcare program at SheWorks. This person will be responsible for creating a safe, warm, and engaging classroom experience for children ages 2.5-6 during our morning and afternoon sessions. Our approach blends play-based and emergent learning with intentional structure and daily rhythm. We are not centered around a rigid curriculum or highly structured academic model. Instead, we believe young children learn through exploration, creativity, relationships, movement, and play. While SheWorks provides the overall philosophy, policies, and structure of the program, we want our teachers to bring their own experience, creativity, and ideas into the classroom. Our Approach to Learning In our classrooms: Children learn through exploration, creativity, movement, and play. Teachers facilitate learning through observation, engagement, and thoughtfully planned activities. Social-emotional development is an important part of the classroom experience. Daily routines provide consistency while still allowing teachers to respond to the needs of the group. Strong relationships with children and families are central to the way we provide care. Teachers are encouraged to bring forward ideas, activities, and improvements that strengthen the classroom experience. ResponsibilitiesClassroom & Childcare Provide attentive, nurturing care for children ages 2.5-6. Facilitate engaging, age-appropriate activities through play, art, movement, sensory exploration, and other hands-on experiences. Maintain consistent classroom routines while remaining responsive to the needs of individual children and the group. Support children's emotional regulation, independence, communication, and positive peer interactions. Help children transition successfully through arrival, activities, snack, play, and pickup. Observe children's needs and proactively adjust activities or classroom approaches when appropriate. Family & Team Communication Build warm, professional relationships with children and families. Communicate relevant updates or concerns with parents and SheWorks leadership. Work collaboratively with other teachers and SheWorks leadership. Bring forward ideas, observations, needs, and potential solutions. Receive feedback openly and contribute to an environment where communication is respectful and direct. Classroom Operations Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming, and safe classroom. Follow SheWorks policies and established health and safety procedures. Complete required attendance, incident, and child-related documentation. Help maintain classroom materials and communicate when additional supplies or resources are needed. Participate in ongoing improvements to classroom routines and the overall childcare experience. Qualifications Preferred Experience working in a preschool, childcare, early learning, or similar environment. Education in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field is preferred but not required for an otherwise experienced candidate. Strong understanding of early childhood development and social-emotional learning. Comfortable caring for and engaging children across the 2.5-6 age range. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Dependable and able to maintain a consistent schedule. Comfortable working in a growing program that will continue to learn and evolve. Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain. Schedule This is a full-time, in-person position based at SheWorks in downtown Tacoma. Our childcare program operates in two half-day sessions:

Morning:

8:00 AM-11:00

AM Afternoon:

12:00 PM-3:00 PM Typical staff hours are approximately 7:30 AM-3:00 PM , allowing time for classroom preparation, transitions, and resetting between sessions.
